Rumor: Silent Hill 5 To Xbox 360 And PS3 This Year

 

Both Xbox 360 and PS3 will be seeing Silent Hill 5 by the end of 2007, according to the rumor section of the latest issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly. This would be the first iteration of the series on either console.

 

The other tidbit from EGM states that development of the Xbox 360 and PS3 title will be spearheaded in by Konami in the United States instead of in Japan.

 

The website CVG reported in April that Akira Yamaoka, the producer of Silent Hill 2 on PC, would be working on the latest SH game. "At the moment I cannot reveal much detail on the story, or our progress, but I can tell you that this game will resemble Silent Hill 2 in the terms of the way the player is directed and the characters' behaviour," said Yamaoka.

 

Konami has yet to comment on the magazine's assertions, but we'll be on the lookout for more details about SH5 as they become available.

EA has unveiled the next game in the Need For Speed series, and has given us an exclusive trailer and screenshots to show it off with.

 

The new street-racing adventure is called ProStreet, and is heading to Xbox 360, PS3, PC, Wii, DS, PS2, PSP and mobile this autumn.

 

 

 

EA Black Box in Canada will be creating it, and it's back to the underbelly of the racing world we go, rubbing shoulders with Vin Diesel types at every turn. The graphics have undergone an overhaul and look suitably jaw-dropping, and the A.I. will also be much more aggressive and realistic this time around.

 

But the biggest changes come in the form of the "Autosculpt" technology, which will let you customise not only the appearance of your car, but also its performance. Plus every crash and bump you pick up will leave noticeable, lasting dents and scratches on your beautiful bodywork.

 

There's also what's being dubbed as, "a revolutionary online mode that will redefine the meaning of competitive social play".

 

It's one step closer to the deep-immersion goal EA covets, and it will probably sell by the absolute truck-load as usual.

 

"Need for Speed ProStreet accelerates street racing culture by providing the ultimate stage for the pursuit of supremacy," said Larry LaPierre, executive producer of the game. "This is a game about building the ultimate performance-tuned battle machine, taking it to multi-disciplinary showdowns all over the world and pitting your skills and reputation against the very best street racers."

The Darkness Demo Coming Soon

"We want to make a demo and are working extremely hard to get a fully polished demo out. With each build the game is looking darker, more gritty, and more impressive so we're balancing if we can get a fully packed and awesome demo out before the game launches. We won't put out a demo if we think it's not going to be up to (or very near) the caliber of the finished product. It's just how we roll and we hope you expect the best from us and your experiences with our titles.

 

That said...as for a potential release date for the demo...Demos typically go out about 3-4 weeks before games ship and that's what we're shooting for with The Darkness.

 

As for PC, um, the game hasn't been announced for PC nor am I aware of any PC The Darkness plans so I'm confused about why there might be chatter of a PC demo. ..I blame darklings. They're evil creatures who like to spread rumor and lies. "

Turok Info

 

Turok, the FPS that just loves to hate dinosaurs will be landing in stores for the Xbox 360 and PS3 September 17th. Propaganda Games will be releasing a demo before shipping Turok, and promises that new life has been brought to the franchise. Graphics and atmosphere will be more pristine and filled with the ʽwow factorʼ thanks to the Unreal Engine 3 , and Propaganda has hinted at the possibility of dinosaurs having A.I. This means that the T-Rex coming at you will be extra frightening and much more than a looming beast with a pea-sized brain. Raptors, the worst of the lot, will be even more cunning and predatory than what we are used to in Turok games. Multiplayer options for up to 16 people is new to the franchise, and players will not only have to contend with these roaming enemies wanting to frag them to bits, but add the raging reptiles into the mix and you have carnage to the extreme.

Uncharted info

 

Speaking to Kikizo, Naughty Dog Design Lead Richard Lemarchand noted that they're working hard to get Uncharted: Drake's Fortune in the hands of gamers come the holiday season.

 

As for details on the game, it was revealed in that interview that the SIXAXIS tilt-sensing will come into play during the balance beam sections and grenade-throwing in gameplay. As for the the controls being context sensitive, Lemarchand says that it's only context sensitive in a sense that certain settings or situations restrict player actions. He says that they're still aiming for a control setup that's intuitive, and that moving away from that isn't good for the game.

 

When it comes to other gameplay elements, like puzzles, Lemarchand notes that there are no crate puzzles in this game, but there will be other situations to "keep people puzzling".

 

As for the number of levels or areas in the game, Lemarchand says that due to their level-streaming technology, one could say that the game is "one big level". As for the length of the game, he'd rather stay quiet about that now, he does however reassure that they won't let players down when it comes to quality and quantity of gameplay.

 

On the issue of the number of playable characters, so far, it's only Nathan Drake who's playable. Richard Lemarchand does add though that companions Elena and Sullivan will be providing support roles in certain parts of the game.

 

On the topic of Home and PlayStation Content, Lemarchand says that although the game is single player only, they do have plans for owners of a networked PS3. There will be some form of Home integration in the form of trophies or what not, but Lemarchand doesn't want to talk much about that, as he might give away the surprise. The Design Lead said that those who enjoyed the Easter eggs in their Jak franchise will like the surprises in Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.

Devil May Cry 4 Update

Producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi doesn't want system wars.

 

Xbox 360 and PS3 owners alike can look forward to the same experience. "The content will be exactly the same," said Kobayashi. "Regardless of which one you buy, you will be able to get the same enjoyment. What's different is perhaps the shape of the controller and graphic peculiarities for each hardware. We wanted to avoid arguments about which one is better."

 

The game will run at 60 frames per second, Kobayashi reconfirmed.

First DMC4 playable Dante gameplay footage

Capcom has released the first gameplay footage of Dante from Devil May Cry 4. If you don't know, the protagonist featured so far is in fact Nero, though he bears a striking resemblance to Dante. Among other things, Dante has duel-wielded pistols, which are so popular with the kids these days. The clip is very short, but it does showcase some pretty nifty maneuvers for Dante. We like the upside down, spiraling double guns in particular. Check out the video and a new gallery after the break.
