The development cost of the plays exploded, it becomes difficult to have exclusivenesses, except our own plays. But we will have as of launching 30 plays, of which Motorstorm, Resistance or Virtua Fighter. Moreover, we await 200 plays from here the end of 2007. Lastly, for Final Fantasy XIII, I can say to you that exclusiveness is under discussion.

PlayStation Home and porn: they won't stop you

 

There won't be anything to stop you uploading porn to your private space in PlayStation Home, according to Sony, but you obviously won't be able to wave it around in public.

 

 

It was Phil Harrison wot said it, speaking to semi-official blog ThreeSpeech following this month's GDC announcements - including that of the virtual "Home" universe - in an interview that quickly drew him into a discussion about, well, "moderation".

 

"It's absolutely deliberate that there is no physical impact between characters, between avatars," he explained, adding that you will be able to do things like shake hands. "But no, we're not going to have 'those' kind of animations that I'm imagining that you're thinking about."

 

Not content with that, the ThreeSpeech blogger made his point more explicitly, asking whether it'd be possible to upload pornography to your private space, and whether Sony would do anything about the people who "invite people you don't necessarily know" to come and watch it with you. Amazing.

 

"Well I'm disappointed that you would use those as the first questions," Harrison responded. "I think Home should be used for a much wider and more beneficial scope than that, but I think that people can express their creativity inside Home in a wide variety of ways and it's not necessarily for us to dictate what that should be. However, if somebody feels uncomfortable about an encounter on Home, it's very easy for them to ban that person from their friends list."

PS3 not selling out would be good - Reeves

 

Sony boss David Reeves says that if you can walk into a shop on Friday and buy a PlayStation 3 without a pre-order, that'll mean the company got the launch right.

 

"We don't want secret shoppers to go in there and say, 'Ah, it's not out of stock, therefore it's not selling,'" he told Reuters. "Indeed, what we're trying to say is we want to make it available to the normal shopper who goes in there and says, 'Do you have PlayStation 3?', and they will say, 'Yes.' And the same for the software."

 

Reeves, who is president of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, told the news agency that the delay between the console's Japanese and North American launches last November and its arrival in Europe this Friday has been of great benefit in reaching the goal of shipping one million units of hardware for day one.

 

"It's rather like taking a bottle of soda water and we've shaken it so hard over the last six months that when we take the cork off, it's just going to explode," he explained (probably waving his arms around expressively). "I think that's a better way of looking at it than to say the delay is disappointing. It's not - it's really been beneficial for us. We're going to get it right."

Resistance Multiplayer Update Now Online

No new maps, but how about Team Conversion and Team Assault?

 

Insomniac Games is treating gamers well lately. Last week, 1UP and EGM helped reveal Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction to the world and logging onto Resistance: Fall of Man this morning means a chance to download the first of several planned content updates.

 

Most people are reporting the download takes between 15-20 minutes to complete, and the big content additions are two new gametypes: Team Conversion and Team Assault. Complete details on both can be found in our previous article, but dedicated online players should be happy to see "Round Balancing" implemented in this update (thanks, MyResistance forums):

 

"Round balancing can be set "on" or "off" (default: on) when round balancing is on, if the number of players on each team is uneven at the end of the round, players will be moved from the team with to many players to the team with too few players. Parties will not be separated, So its not guaranteed to result in a perfectly balanced teams. Round Balancing is turned "on" for ranked games."

 

Additional maps will also be available for Resistance in May.
