World Wrestling Federeation not happy with TQH (for cancelling Ps3 version)

5815_hs.jpg

According to staff at WWE euroshop and at THQ, the WWE have been upset over the annoucement by THQ, for dropping this years addition of its ever so popular smackdown series for the PS3.

Staff at WWE euroshop have even stated that they,ve been told not to sell THQ's videogames until further notice.

THQ signed WWE to10 year contract to publish the WWE games on various platforms every year.

According to THQ reps, the WWE have a profound relationship with Sony corp, and have felt cheated by THQ over the annoucement.

Since the contract began, Sony have supported the WWE for 23 pay per views and 41 house shows and tours, and use to sell Sony products at its WWE store in times square.

Rumours did spread a while back that the WWE were looking to part with THQ and sign with a bigger company (EA probably), but THQ held there ground.

If this story of a rift does get bigger, i doubt THQ will have the WWE on its books.

PS3Land: Stranglehold slips to 2007

by Bhavin Shah

Each time Midway has spoken about its upcoming third person action adventure, it has stated that the game is targeted for PS3's launch.

Now, however, Midway has confirmed that John Woo Presents Stranglehold will not be released till the first quarter of 2007.

Stranglehold, developed and published by Midway, was due to appear alongside the PlayStation 3 on November 17th in North America and Europe. After it was shown off at E3 with a spectacular trailer, many were hotly anticipating the game for the holidays. Sadly, we'll have to wait a few more months.

The game will also be released for Xbox 360 and PC, although Midway have not made clear if Stranglehold will release simultaneous across all three platforms.

Sony's Harrison: 'Amazed' if PS4 Has a Disc Drive

What about these Blu-Ray discs, then?

by Luke Smith, 08/08/2006

This just in: Blu-Ray is dead. Pardon the hyperbole, but with senior Sony executives speculating that the PS4 (yes, you read that right) may not use a disc format as the company is at the cusp of rolling out future proof technology, it's not exactly a ringing endorsement of the proprietary disc format's staying power.

Phil Harrison told Wired that he would be "amazed if the PS4 has a physical disk drive." In fairness, Harrison was talking about the emergence of electronic distribution (something Sony's mastermind Ken Kutaragi has championed previously), but that doesn't change the back-handed slap to the Blu-ray format.

The likelihood of being done with disc media after this console cycle (yes, the one that is about to finally begin sometime this fall) seems a bit much -- the feasibility of downloading complete experiences like Halo 3 is severely limited by Internet availability and access.

Namco Officially Announces Gundam For PS3, Info & Screens

Well, Namco has officially announced Mobile Suit Gundam (working title) for the PS3. The press information is below, you can read it all by clicking read more. They also sent along several screens. Now, we will not even make the obvious point that the screens look nothing like the CG released by Sony when the game was first announced. We will say though, that taken by themselves, the screens do not even look that great, but you decide.

F.E.A.R. freaks out for PS3!

Wednesday 9-Aug-2006 11:49 AM Exclusive: Vivendi's all conquering F.E.A.R. will be heading onto Sony's next-gen platform!

F.E.A.R. took the PC by storm, is boldly slapping up the Xbox 360, offering further PC adventures with expansion pack Extraction Point and is now confirmed for Sony's next-gen console, the PS3, CVG can exclusively reveal today.

Following hot on the heels of the announcement of F.E.A.R. multiplayer for free, CVG's investigative reporters have learned that the mighty shooting franchise, which offers superb slow mo gun battles and pant-wetting Japanese-influenced horror, will be marching straight onto Sony's next-gen console.

No further details were forthcoming from our sources, but we'd have to hope the game would power onto the PS3 on or around the time of launch - and there's even the possibility that it might make use of the PS3's funky tilting controller for some of the game's crunching melee moves. Hopefully it'll make good use of the PS3's online capabilities too, offering PS3 owners a chance to indulge in splendid multiplayer shooting.

None of that's confirmed of course, as we're writing it wearing our hat of enormous speculation, but it swells the shooting credentials of Sony's next-gen console, joining other big hitters like Valve's Half-Life 2.

Exciting news indeed and we'll bring you more on F.E.A.R. PS3 as it shivers in.

Armored Core 4 Set For PS3 Launch, Game Tidbits

The latest issue of Famitsu magazine has confirmed that the new Armored Core game will be gracing the launch window of the Playstation 3. The game will takes place in a future version of Earth where overpopulation has caused widespread confusion. Six factions attempt to regain control by starting a war, and it all goes downhill from there. In terms of the gameplay itself, From is promising that the game will have some of the fastest combat in a mech game to date. Keep in mind, From also developed Chromehounds, which has some of the best online multiplayer mech combat available. This game is also slated for the XBox360, but that date is still TBA.

EA PS3 launch plans

Discussing its launch games line-up for Sony's next-gen console - during a conference call held with media and analysts yesterday - the company also admitted, while fielding a question on Xbox 360 versus PS3 technical capabilities, that it's extremely unlikely that the initial wave of titles will do PS3's hardware justice.

"This Christmas, it's going to be difficult to harness the full power of the PS3 on first generation software versus what will be second generation 360 games, so they're going to be more alike than different, is our opinion at this time," an EA exec commented.

They continued: "As those machines develop over time [...] there's a lot of horsepower inside the PS3 that we'll be able to unlock over years two, three, and four that we're very excited about."

ΥΓ

1UP:...Blu-ray or HD-DVD -- is that kind of storage going to add to what you can do? Just having that sheer amount of volume on a disc, is that something you guys are going to be able to take advantage of?

RF - (COD3): Certainly, more room equals more stuff. It's a simple equation. Yes - any time we're given [fewer] limitations, we're going to exploit that to its fullest.
