Jeff Minter gives Ken Kutaragi both barrels!

In the latest edition of Edge magazine (165) legendary game guru and llama enthusiast, Jeff Minter, has blasted Sony for their lacklustre E3 showing.

And although the event is now some 2 months in the past, it would seem he is still smarting...

 

Commenting on Ken Kutaragi, CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, he writes "Some of his talk about the PS3 has seemed pretty bizarre and it makes Sony's attitude seem incredibly arrogant." He continued, "They seem absolutely certain that even when they say that it's (PS3) going to be considerably more expensive than existing consoles, and that maybe there won't be that many titles actually available at launch, nonetheless us eager customers will rush out in droves to buy it because, hey, it's a new PlayStation."

 

 

In full stride his stinging rebuttal went on, "Yeah, you've got a good reputation and the lion's share of the current market, but don't get smug, Sony. Nobody likes smug, and it's not an attitude that has served companies well in videogame history. We need games, not smugness, games that will make me want to get hold of the PS3 rather than a bunch of stuff either identical or broadly similar to what I'll be playing on my 360."

Phew! Can you imagine him angry? For those of you scratching your heads as to who Minter actually is, you may know him as the founder of UK coders Llamasoft who were responsible for some beloved old skool titles such as Llamatron and Gridrunner. In recent years he has worked for Atari's now defunct VM Labs and was responsible for the Xbox 360's media visualization tool, Neon.

And although some may argue that his opinion is biased towards the Xbox 360 due to his involvement with the machine, the article reads more like a musings of a disgruntled fan-boy rather than a vicious spleen vent of a MS flag bearer.
