Έχετε υπ' όψιν ότι το update KB908531 των windows μπορεί να σας κάνει να ζοριστείτε. Μπορεί να κολλάει το word όταν επιλέγετε open ή save as ένα document...

Υπάρχει περίπτωση να συμβαίνει σε μηχανάκια με HP scanner (δεν είναι σίγουρο βέβαια...)

After experiencing problems with the April updates for Windows XP I began to

try them out one at a time.

Installing KB908531 brought back the problem of having Word become

non-responsive when attempting to use "file" "open"

Can others confirm the same problem with KB908531?

Thanks in advance for your time and energy!

When I attempted to uninstall the patch, I was notified that two other

patches might be affected, so I just did a system restore prior to the

patches released today. Word seems to work now. I also have an HP scanner,

but I haven't tried it. I'm a little surprised this patch is affected by a

third party software.

WrongWheel's solution worked. After removing HP PrecisionScan Pro 3.1

software the Windows XP patches work with my Office applications and Windows

Explorer.

Uninstall it from Control Panel Add | Remove programs. Make sure "Show

Updates" is checked.

I'm running XP Pro and this is how you add/remove. Go into control panel and

click on add/remove programs. When add/remove opens, there is a check box at

the top that says show all updates or something like that. Click to show all

MS patches in the list of programs. Then you can find the patch you want to

remove. You may get a message that says other patches may not function if you

remove this patch. I would remove those patches as well.

If you are running XP, you can also go into All Programs/Accessories/System

Tools/System Restore and restore your system to the point before you added

the patches that caused your problems. This restores your system as if you

hadn't installed the patches. That is what I did.

Since yesterday I have been receiving more and more complaints that MS

Office apps are crashing.

Further investigation is showing that this is happening when users are

trying to open files by going to "File > Open" or when they are trying

to add files such as adding a picture in to word from a file. The issue

is when ever these applications are opening windows explorer, a process

called VERCSLID.EXE is launching over and over again. Stopping the

process will be able to allow you to uninstall patch KB908531 or will

restore temporary functionality of the application, until you try to

launch windows explorer from within the application again. Advice is

uninstall.

My network is Windows 2000 using Office 2003.
