sotris99 Δημοσ. 2 Μαρτίου 2006 Δημοσ. 2 Μαρτίου 2006 Σήμερα μου ήρθε το γουρουνάκι της netgear που φιλοξενεί δύο δίσκους και συνδέεται απ' ευθείας πάνω στο router... το οποίο το παρήγγειλα από την pixmania. Πληροφορίες μπορείτε να πάρετε από εδώ σε πρώτη φάση μέχρι να πάω στο σπίτι και να το δοκιμάσω... Netgear SC101 Εντύπωση μου έκανε το γεγονός ότι το κουτί (η συσκευασία) δεν είχε πουθενά αγγλικά μόνο γαλλικά, ολλανδικά και ισπανικά το ίδιο και τα έντυπα εγχειρδια χρήσης!!! Ευτυχώς η καρδιά μου επανήλθε στην θέση της όταν είδα τα δύο cd που συνδοδεύουν την συσκευή τα οποία ήταν τυπωμένα στα αγγλικά καθώς και όλο το περιβάλλον στα αγγλικά όπως και τα ηλεκτρονικά εγχειρίδια χρήσης. Πάντως εξωτερικά η συσκευή διακρίνεται για την πολύ καλή ποιότητα κατασκευής και το αλουμίνιο σαν ο καλύτερος απαγωγέας θερμότητας κάνει αισθητά την παρουσία του. Όταν στεγάσω του δύο δίσκους που γυρνάνε σαν πρόσφυγες στο σπίτι μου θα παρουσιάσω ένα φουλ review της συσκευής... Αναμείνατε...

Δηλαδή μπορείς να το συνδέσεις και πάνω σε xbox χωρίς να έχεις pc και να παίζεις τα παιχνίδια από εκεί χωρίς να χρειάζεται να ανοίξεις την κονσόλα και να χάσεις την εγγύηση για να βάλεις ένα μεγαλύτερο σκληρό... Επειδή το κατεβαστήρι μου χαλάει πολύ ρεύμα θα επιστρατεύσω τον 486 για κατεβαστήρι ο οποίος με τα συμβατικά μέσα θα ήταν αδύνατο να δεί δίσκους άνω των 2 gb... Ναι το ξέρω ότι είναι ακριβό αλλά μου είναι χρήσιμο για πολλούς λόγους συν το γεγονός ότι παίρνει δύο δισκους αντί για ένα και έχει την υπογραφή της netgear. Όταν βάλεις και εσύ dsl αν δεν έχεις ή αποκτήσεις 1024 θα καταλάβεις την χρησιμοτητά του...

Netgear SC101 manual Και εδώ μπορείς να κάνεις ερώτηση για το αν μπορείς να συνδέσεις την συσκευή πάνω σε mac. Λογικά θα μπορείς αλλά μάλλον την πρώτη φορά θα πρέπει να το σετάρεις σε pc... To μόνο που μπορώ να κάνω αν έχεις αμφιβολίες είναι να δοκιμάσουμε το κουτάκι που έχω αγοράσει πάνω στον g5 σου...

Super Moderators paredwse Δημοσ. 2 Μαρτίου 2006 Super Moderators Δημοσ. 2 Μαρτίου 2006 Καλά, αισθάνομαι ότι σου έσκισα λίγο το topic αλλά είσαι ευγενής και υπομονετικός οπότε να διατυπώσω την εξής ρητορική ερώτηση: τι διάολο σκέφτονταν στην Netgear;;; Γιατί να μην έχουν ένα απλό FAT32 για filesystem; Γιατί να μην μπορούν να διαβαστούν οι δίσκοι της γουρούνας από Linux/Unix/MacOS; Τρομερή βλακεία, κατά την ταπεινή μου άποψη. Σιγά, ένα ethernet εξωτερικό κουτί σκληρού είναι. Ωραίο, εντυπωσιακό, λειτουργικό. Δεν θα μπορούσαν να το κάνουν και προσβάσιμο σε όλους; Τέλος του offtopic, το forum περιμένει το review σου!

The computers share the network resource. This reduces maintenance in large systems, and also avoids having a single computer tied up answering requests for its data from all over a network. SAN disks run as an extension of a computer's operating system. Therefore connected computers must have operating systems and software that are compatible with the SAN to be able to use it. NETGEAR's SC101 is a such a SAN device. A NAS is a more complicated device that has its own, small operating system. Sometimes computers that have been converted just to be file servers are referred to as NAS devices. Κοινώς είναι άχρηστα αυτά τα κουτιά για τον μέσο χρήστη (ίσως και να την πάτησα). It uses a SAN File System (SFS) that does not need you to defragment it, or to use other Windows utilities such as chkdsk. For the SC101's own defragmenter to work properly — and as with any hard disk, to avoid poor performance — leave 10% free space on each disk or drive. (Remember, the SC101 uses the word drive to mean what is usually called a disk partition.) Technical Explaination With conventional disk management such the NTFS used by Windows, disks are divided into small, equally-size divisions called clusters; disk access is made for clusters, and a file may use many clusters. This old practice is suited for programs with limited needs for disk performance, or for low-level programs that handled their own disk access. Unfortunately, neither of these is true of many modern software applications. To reduce request fragmentation for large requests, SFS bypasses the Windows buffer cache and tries to make one request for the entire amount of data. The SFS accesses hard disks by addressing entire extents, which are flexibly-sized groups of blocks. With a good disk allocator such as ours, extent-based file systems minimize fragmentation. For example, say Windows makes 64 KB requests for buffered I/O, which results in eight I/O requests for 8 KB blocks. The SC101 SFS allocator, in comparison, searches chunks of thirty-two 8KB blocks (before moving to sixteen 8KB blocks, before finally moving to eight 8KB blocks). Often files are larger than the maximum Windows request size, so Windows’ files will fragment. SFS avoids the fragmentation of Windows. The SFS allocator can use both first-fit and best-fit algorithms, and typically outperforms Windows in terms of maximum blocks that can be transferred at a time. All this makes it easy for the SC101 to stay “defragmented”, using its own software. Another non-Windows feature that reduces SC101 disk accesses is stuffed dinodes. In the Windows NTFS disk management, the addresses for blocks are stored in a different place than the blocks, themselves. This means that any request for NTFS disk data, no matter how small, causes two I/O operations. Since hard disk I/O is far slower than your CPU or RAM, doubling the amount of I/O can have a noticable impact on performance. Since SFS can store both the address and the data in the same extent, the amount of I/O for very small files is cut in half.

Έχει σταλθεί e-mail στην εταιρεία. Πώπω μαύρο τριήμερο θα περάσω... Αν προσθέσω και το γεγονός ότι το Control 3 (λογιστικό πρόγραμμα semi/erp) τίναξε στον αέρα την sql είμαι για να μην βγαίνω από το σπίτι...
