Serious Sam 3 [Rumors][pre-release]

A post on Seriously! translates an interview from PC Chip Magazine where Croteam reveals it has plans to work on Serious Sam 3, plus another unnamed project.

What are your future plans, and from all the posibilities what would you like to achieve?

 

First we have to finish the patches (DM, SDK, linux port etc. - as they mentioned in another part of the interview, G.), then adapt SS 2 for other platforms, and then start working on SS 3 (!!!, G.)... Of course, you never know what the publisher may want, so something may happen in between. We are also planning a completely new project, a game which will be completely different from SS, with a bigger accent on MP in co-op... It should be a lot less "cartoony" and much more serious than Sam. But don't worry, it won't be too serious - can you even imagine the two of us making a really serious game (Alen and Vedran, G.) ?!

Όπως είχα γράψει και σε παλιότερο post:

 

Το μεγαλύτερο, χειρότερο, ηλιθιότερο λάθος τους και η πηγή όλων των κακών του παιχνιδιού είναι ότι πολύ απλά το ανέπτυσσαν παράλληλα και για μια γνωστή κονσόλα της αγοράς (Χαζό-κούτι αν θυμάμαι καλά). Για να προσεγγίσουν το κοινό της κονσόλας (κυρίως άτομα από 10 ετών και κάτω) βάλανε ζωές, το κάνανε καρτουνίστικο (σε σημείο γελοιότητας) και φυσικά μην ξεχνάμε τους περιορισμούς της κονσόλας.

 

Θέλατε να το αναπτύξετε και για το Χαζο-κούτι;;;; Πάρτε τα … τώρα.

Προσωπικά όλα απο τη σειρά Serious Sam (1, se , 2) τα βρήκα και πολύ ευρηματικά και πολυυυύ διασκεδαστικά. Τα άτομα σκέφτηκαν τρελές και παρανοϊκές πίστες, καλή ποικιλία σε τερατάκια, μάχες με ορδές απο τέρατα, έξυπνα secret bonuses και... και... και... Από τα λίγα παιχνίδια που οι δημιουργοί φαίνεται να τα βγάζουν με μεράκι και όχι απο "υποχρέωση"...

 

So....Oh Yeahhhhhh Serious Sam 3!!!

Serious Sam 3 drops cartoon look

 

Croteam has told Eurogamer that Serious Sam 3 will drop the series' trademark cartoon look, although the familiar fast and frantic gameplay will remain.

 

"I can't yet reveal any new features on Serious Sam 3, as it's still too early," began Croteam boss Roman Ribaric.

 

"However, I believe Serious Sam fans would want to hear the following two things. First, Serious Sam 3 will play like the original Serious Sam. And second, we'll leave the cartoony look behind.

 

"As for standing up to other games: simply, if it's good to play, it's good to play. Serious Sam games belong to their own unique fast-paced FPS genre and should best be compared to previous Serious Sam games."

 

Ribaric said Croteam is "knee-deep" in Serious Sam 3 development, which will ramp up proper once Serious Sam HD - the PC and Xbox Live Arcade remake - is done and dusted.

 

For now, however, Serious Sam 3 has no date. Or platforms - although PC and Xbox 360 are likely candidates. But so was Sarah Palin, and look what happened there.

 

Did you know that Croteam was making a military game that was halted by lack of investor and publisher support? We didn't until Ribaric told us.

Serious Sam 3 aims to rock your face off in 2010

 

Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter reminded me of the simple joys of wave-based shooting mayhem, and news of Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter only made me happier. However, the news we all want to know is this: Is Serious Sam 3 ever going to arrive, and if so, when?

 

Well, we put that question to Croteam boss Roman Ribaric in no uncertain terms, and we were pleased with the answer. Serious Sam 3 is totally still in the works, and what's more, we should be hearing more about it very soon.

 

"Serious Sam 3 is happening for sure," Ribaric tells us. "It is currently planned to be finished in 2010."

 

There you have it. A brand new, all-original, ball-busting adventure for Sam "Serious" Stone by 2010. In the meantime, Destructoid has much more Serious Sam discussion on the way as part of a neat interview we ran with Roman. Stay tuned for Destructoid for much more exclusive Serious Sam fun!
