FOUR NEW BATTLEFIELD: BAD COMPANY CONQUEST MAPS AVAILABLE NOW FOR FREE!

 

Battlefield: Bad Company players can download the ʽCommunity Choice Map Packʼ via PlayStation Update starting today and via Xbox LIVE™ Marketplace starting tomorrow. Included in this pack are four brand new conquest multiplayer maps, gameplay enhancements and PlayStation 3 Trophy support – all for free!

 

Previously, players had the chance to vote on which two single-player levels they wanted to see as multiplayer maps and Par for the Course and Acta Non Verba won with the most community votes. The other two maps available were selected by the Bad Company development team which includes Ghost Town and Crossing Over, coinciding with the communityʼs #3 and #4 choice.

 

Battlefield: Bad Company delivers a deep single-player campaign loaded with dark humor, intense combat and deafening destruction. Players take on the role of Preston Marlowe, a young soldier whose antics land him in the division with the highest mortality rate alongside other troublemakers Sarge, Haggard and Sweetwater. Released on June 25 in North America and on June 27 in Europe, Bad Company is available on the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and the Xbox 360™ videogame and entertainment system. The Xbox 360 hard drive has limited bandwidth. Any game that is heavily optimzed to use the hard drive for caching (like Halo 3) is going to see little to no gain for "installing" it using the NXE. Our tests show Halo 3 usually loads assets slower when you use the NXE install feature.

 

This isn't a bug - it is a consequence of Halo 3 already utilizing the hard drive to its maximum ability. It doesn't need the NXE to load faster, as it is already doing everything it can to speed things up.

 

In short, don't use the NXE to install Halo 3 to your hard drive. We already did the work to make the game use the hard drive in the best way for Halo 3, a generalized solution in the form of the NXE installation feature is not required.

GTA IV DLC named, detailed, dated

 

This new episode, available Feb. 17 via download exclusively for those who own the Xbox 360 version (no price yet), stars Johnny Klebitz, a member of Liberty City biker gang The Lost.

 

"Johnny is a very different character than Niko, with a very different background," says Dan Houser, vice president of creative development for Rockstar Games. "I can't go into too much detail on the story, because we try not to give away too much plot before the game is released. But I can say that the story will show you a different side of Liberty City."

 

The episode, titled The Lost and Damned, requires players to have the full version of the Mature-rated GTA IV (ages 17 and older) and an Xbox Live membership to download.

 

In the original game, Niko crossed paths with The Lost several times. This time, Niko has only a bit part, Houser says. "The story is not directly impacted by decisions you took in the main game," he says. But "tons of details and mysteries from the main story get explained, so it will add a lot of color to the main story."
