xrest Δημοσ. 10 Ιανουαρίου 2008 Δημοσ. 10 Ιανουαρίου 2008 Rare ignores GoldenEye XBLA rumblings Rare has rather predictably refused to say anything about GoldenEye making its way to Live Arcade. Rumours swept from an Xbox Evolved piece claiming Microsoft, Rare, and Bond licence holders Activision had agreed to offer it on the service. Evidence was, well, sketchy - based upon "very reliable sources" and promises the site had seen it with its own eyes. If this does all turn out to be true, then you should apparently expect polished presentation and Live multiplayer from the N64 classic. Speculation also suggests Rare will unleash more of its back catalogue after GoldenEye, pointing at hits like Perfect Dark and Banjo-Kazooie. Or they could make another Viva Pinata! That's what we'd do! Listen to us, Rare!

xrest Δημοσ. 12 Ιανουαρίου 2008 Δημοσ. 12 Ιανουαρίου 2008 The truth about Lost Odyssey and more - Produced by Hironobu Sakaguchi, who has been credited with involvement in all of the following games: Final Fantasy II-XII (including X-2), Super Mario RPG, Chrono Trigger, Vagrant Story, Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2, and Blue Dragon. Quite an impressive list. - Story being written by Kiyoshi Shigematsu. Japanese literature nuts may remember him as the 2001 Naoki Prize winner for his novel Vitamin F. - Composer Nobuo Uematsu has been brought onboard to score the game. I think we're all familiar enough with his work to make it pointless to list again here. If you're unfamiliar, go pick up Final Fantasy VI. - Heading up the artistic department is famous Japanese comic artist Takehiko Inoue. Fans of manga might know him for his works Chameleon Jail, Real, and his continued involvement in Shonen Jump magazine. In 2001 he was even awarded an "Excellence Award" from the Japanese Media Arts Foundation...seriously how many of you can say you were awarded an award purely for being, "excellent." - The story takes place in a world that the author says is on the verge of a, "mystical industrial revolution. - It follows Kaim, a deathless warrior who has lived for over a millennium. The story will, in many ways, revolve around this plot point, as issues of love, family, and death are explored throughout. - Powered by Unreal Engine 3
xrest Δημοσ. 12 Ιανουαρίου 2008 Δημοσ. 12 Ιανουαρίου 2008 Why Did GoldenEye XBLA Stall? Like almost everything in this industry, it came down to money. If you've read the latest issue of EGM, you've probably cried over the apparently silent death of an Xbox Live Arcade version of Rare and Nintendo's classic James Bond shooter for the Nintendo 64, GoldenEye 007. Quartermann's rumor mongering didn't elaborate much, but there's definitely more to the story. The GoldenEye port has been in development at Rare for several months, and was never intended as a remake. The XBLA version would have featured the same graphics, maps and weapons from the N64 version, but with the crucial addition of online multiplayer over Xbox Live. Several characters wouldn't make the cut due to licensing issues with certain actors. Unfortunately, the reason GoldenEye for XBLA died came down to money. Our source close to Rare said the conversion was a mere two months from completion, but Microsoft and Nintendo couldn't agree on the financial side of things. The point of contention, as our source puts it: would Nintendo receive a one-time fee for the rights to the game, or a continuing cut of the XBLA revenues? The latter seems to make sense for everyone, but apparently it wasn't that easy. From what we're told, the best way to get this port back on track is to show Microsoft and Nintendo how badly you want it. If it all comes down to money, show 'em that you want to give yours. As soon as we hear anything more, we'll let you know.
