Rez HD "only a few weeks away"

We've received an email from Q Entertainment today who has informed us that Rez HD is "only a few weeks away" from release on the Xbox Live Arcade.

The other good news is the fact that the game will be available for only 800 Microsoft points. "Only a few weeks away" could mean that Rez HD will be available in a fortnight, we'll keep you updated as soon as Q Entertainment lets us know more.

Rez HD isn't just a HD upgrade of the original Rez, the game includes new sound and visual effects, some of the new sounds include cave, forest, underwater, hall and plate and some of the new visual effects include sepia, tile, blur, bloom and glare. The game will include a full suite of leaderboards and there will be an option for all controllers to receive vibration from the game, so not just the player will feel the vibration.

Rareware Is Revisiting 007

Xbox Evolved has many sources indicating that the classic N64 Rareware title “Goldeneye 007” will be coming to Xbox Live Arcade later this year, as well as many others.

Talking with very reliable sources, and seeing evidence ourselves, Xbox Evolved believes that Microsoft, Rareware, MGM Studios (studio that makes the James Bond 007 movies) and Activision (holds the license for James Bond 007 titles right now) have come to an agreement to bring the Rareware developed Goldeneye 007 out to Xbox Live Arcade shortly before the new game developed by Activision is released.

The title will feature updated graphics, and of course an all-new Xbox Live multiplayer. Not only that, but we have found evidence that Rareware is planning on releasing even more of their back catalog onto Xbox Live Arcade, specifically, Perfect Dark and the original Banjo-Kazooie. Expect more on at least Goldeneye 007 later this year.

Xbox Live Down Again

After a week of frustration, ending with a law suit. It seemed XBL was back up. But, now new reports are coming in that XBL is down again. The official Xbox.com site reports that:

Users may experience issues performing transactions dependent on Windows Live ID availability including but not limited to Xbox 360 account creation, renewal, recovery, and logging into or creating Windows Live ID accounts. We are aware of the issue and actively working toward a resolution. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Or in simple English, the service is down again.

Updates:

XBL Arcade seems to be working fine, even multiplayer. But games like Call of Duty 4 etc.. are still down. So, so far XBL games seem to be running smoothly, but other mutiplayer games aren't. More updates soon.

The current update in the situation states:

Xbox Live and Zune Marketplace users may experience intermittent issues with billing related transactions (such as the purchasing of premium content), presence functionality (such as logging into Xbox Live), posting statistics, storage downloads, matchmaking, and messaging.

IGN: Comparing load times for Devil May Cry 4

"You have to install. On the plus of that it practically eliminates most of the load times. It is one of those things where it is almost seamless. You maybe get that loading screen for half a second to a second then you're right back into the action."

"The 360 preview version that we have the loading is at least 5-10 seconds depending upon the level. It is significant. This is because the 360 does not have the install option."

"The PS3 has not-that-noticeably shorter load times between screens, but that's like 2 seconds versus the Xbox 360's 3 second loads. Seriously, count out 3 seconds. The PS3, however, forces you to install the game on your harddrive, a not insignificant process. I don't know why you're made to do this"

Omega Five Review

One of the prettiest games on 360 costs only $10.

Closing Comments

Omega Five is pretty but shallow. It's the trophy wife of XBLA games. That doesn't mean it isn't fun for a little while, but it's ultimately not among the top-tier Arcade titles. If you enjoy horizontal shooters, Omega Five is worth picking up. It probably won't last you more than a week, but there are enough enjoyable elements to put a smile on your face.

Peggle XBLA Confirmed, ESRB Rates Other Unannounced Games (Updated)

Update: Peggle is indeed headed to Xbox Live Arcade and is tentatively slated for a Q2 release, a PopCap representative has confirmed to Shacknews.

Original Story: PopCap's ultra-addictive and mega-colorful casual gaming sensation Peggle is on its way to the Xbox 360, according a listing on the Entertainment Software Rating Board web site.

Though not officially confirmed, the title is expected to be a downloadable Xbox Live Arcade game, as past PopCap Xbox 360 releases, such as Zuma, have been. It has been assigned an "E for Everyone" rating.

Previously released on PC, Mac, and the iPod, the Pachinko-like skill-based offerings of Peggle have won over many a cold-hearted gamer despite its use of unicorns, rainbows, and Beethoven's "Ode to Joy." A mature Half-Life themed version, dubbed Peggle Extreme, was included with PC copies of Valve's The Orange Box (PC, PS3, X360) last year.

As pointed out by Xbox 360 Fanboy, other previously unannounced and E-rated Xbox 360 titles on the ESRB's site include Bliss Island from Codemasters and Majesco's Ultra Bust-A-Move, the latter of which could indicate a downloadable version of the original Xbox edition through Microsoft's recent Xbox Originals program.
