Rez HD: extra controllers double as trance vibrators (seriously)

trance-vibrrator-360.jpg

That the very first comment on our very first Rez HD post asked if the updated shooter contained support for the infamous trance vibrator peripheral should come as no surprise. Though Mizuguchi says the device wasn't meant to be sexual, ever since that 2002 game girl advance post buzzed its way onto the internets, the vibrating peripheral has become a thing of gaming lore.

While they're not releasing a new peripheral for the XBLA release and they're not enabling support for the USB original, we did learn of another option at a Microsoft meeting at CES this morning: you can enable trance vibrator support through an additional Xbox 360 controller (or three – you can use all four slots). How long before someone switches the guts from a 360 controller and a trance vibrator? Our guess: not long.

Prototype AU Update

Fast-paced and bloody. Is this the next step in open-world action gaming?

While the game is still early – it's not due until late 2008, it's looking really good. The frame rate was buttery smooth throughout the vast majority of the demo, even with Mercer running full tilt down a crowded city street while a chopper pursued him, rockets exploding around him, cars flying. There's plenty more to be implemented, and we were only shown a small section of the gameworld and a small slice of Mercer's abilities, but still, the pace, the brutal combat and the emphasis on options really bode well for Prototype. Radical is calling this Alex Mercer's 'origin story', with a view to create a series – here's hoping the team can pull it all together.

Omega Five Review (Xbox 360)

1199752338.jpg

Despite a couple of pretty hefty shortcomings, Omega Five really isnʼt all that bad of an experience. Itʼs pure, old-school, side-scrolling action wrapped up in a gorgeous visual package. The game will certainly appeal to fans of the genre, even if they are left scratching their collective heads after trying to make sense of it all. However, if youʼre not a hard-core shooting fan or if you like a little extra substance with your video-game meal, Omega Five will likely leaving you with an unfilled appetite and hungry for more.

Too Human

Finally new info on the Xbox's Diablo

screenshot_189738.jpg

"Too Human is a fusion between action and RPG," he said. So it's like Mass Effect then? Er, no. What he described was something quite different. Think of Devil May Cry meets Diablo and you're nearer the mark. Spread over four levels you'll take your character Baldur and turn him into the man you want to play as. Five classes - that's Commando, Defender, Bio-Mechanic, Beserker and Champion - are on offer to cater for every taste, and after making that decision you can tweak every move, weapon and armour piece to your heart's content. In fact, aside from Baldur's physique, you can customise absolutely anything you want.

Fancy uppercutting your enemy into the air, jumping up to bash him around and then slamming him back down to the ground, sending a few bullets his way for good measure? Not a problem. When you consider that you can then mix all this with magical attacks (again, you choose how Baldur evolves and what attacks he'll gain by the way of a skill-tree) and summons by using the face buttons, the potential is huge. We'll get to find out for sure in May.

Lego Batman: The Video Game

LEGO Batman is an upcoming video game developed by Traveller's Tales. It will be similar to the LEGO Star Wars series, in that it will both be a game based on a licensed property and have environments, objects and creatures made out of LEGO. Warner Bros. will be handling the publishing, marketing and financing aspects.

Traveller's Tales have not revealed many details about the game other than it will star Batman fighting crime in Gotham City.

An early build has been created and shown at certain conferences (such as at Game On in London) by designer Jonathan Smith himself for the PS2 console, with a small playable area sporting the exact same HUD as LEGO Star Wars II. Characters on screen each have individual animations and both Batman and Robin have their original TV show dressing style. Only a Fall 2008 date has been announced. No additional information about the game was given, aside from the style of the game focusing more on the original TV series and comics rather than the new movies. The Joker and the Penguin will make a playable appearance.

Upon being contacted, developer Jonathan Smith stated that they will definitely be developing more LEGO games in the future. Whether he means to say that they will develop more LEGO style games based on licensed properties or all LEGO games is not known.

This game is mainly focusing on the storyline of the movie Batman Begins and it will usually take place in Gotham City.

Alan Wake for 2009? [Rumeur] [Rumor]

After Gran Turismo 5, which rose, to our damne, at the end of 2007 to the end of 2008 in Japan (and probably 2009 chez nous), it is now the turn of an Xbox 360 particularly waited for a long time to undergo a postponement of size. Alan Wake, because it had already switched over to a vague 2007 to the end of 2008 but the team would Remedy nothing more than announce a release for 2009. Outch ! Outch!
