New Banjo-Kazooie pic for Christmas - Killer Instinct 3 hinted at

 

CVG writes, "After well over a year in the dark, a new Banjo-Kazooie image has emerged in the form of a Rare Christmas Card."

 

"Alright, it's not exactly a screenshot but if anything the classy card pic gives us a hint at want kind of art direction Rare are taking for the next Banjo, which we can only assume will finally arrive on Xbox 360 next year."

 

"As is tradition for the chaps at Rare, there's even a few cheeky digs in there like the stocking with "KI3" on the front."

MadCatz's Xbox 360 HDMI Conversion Kit up for pre-order

Well, what have we here? No, seriously, what is this thing? Considering the absolute dearth of information given on GameStop's pre-order page, we're left to surmise that the Xbox 360 HDMI Conversion Kit exists (er, will exist) simply to allow those who purchased their Xbox 360 before the days of built-in HDMI to utilize one of the dusty HDMI sockets on their TV / receiver. Granted, we're sure hoping there's more to this thing than that, or else we're left wondering who's desperate enough to drop $89.99 to free up a single component input.

Microsoft sees Xbox 360 sales growth in '08

 

Microsoft expects to sell more Xbox 360 consoles in 2008 than in 2007, with Europe standing out as a key battleground for dominance in the industry. In Japan, where the Xbox 360 has far lagged Nintendo's Wii and Sony's PlayStation 3, Microsoft said recent and upcoming games from popular Japanese designers should boost sales.

 

"We will sell more consoles next year than this year," Jeff Bell, head of global marketing for Microsoft's games business, told Reuters in an interview.

 

"We don't want to trade places with anybody," Bell said.

 

"Europe for us is still the swing," Bell said. "The biggest challenge is that Sony as a brand has had greater staying power than in other areas. Not just PlayStation 3, but Sony as a brand," Bell said.

GH3 360 content still hiding

 

Those of you standing around waiting for the Guitar Hero III downloadable content announced the other day will have to cool your heels and curse the Knights of Cydonia a bit longer, because despite a report on Major Nelson's blog there's no evidence of it at the moment.

 

 

The good Major had said that the Christmas song "We Three Kings" (as rockified and performed by Steve Ouimette) is available for free, along with three songs from Europe - Die Fantastischen Vier's "Ernten Was Wir Säen", Extremoduro's "So Payaso" and Trust's "Antisocial", each of which is set to cost 200 Microsoft Points.

 

Except they're not there. Neither is the promised Warner/Reprise Track Pack featuring Linkin Park's "No More Sorrow", Mastadon's "Sleeping Giant" and The Used's "Pretty Handsome Awkward", all based on master recordings, although to be fair Major Nelson hadn't said they were.

 

We've asked Activision to let us know when the European song content and "We Three Kings" will actually emerge, but it's very probable that it will pitch up today - and indeed soon - based on MN's posting, so we will do that little bold "update" thing on the bottom when it has. For now though, be calm.

Atari have today released the details on the latest planes which are now available to download on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace for Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation.

 

Mirage2000-5 – SCARFACE EMBLEM – (Free)

The heroes of Ace Combat 2, Scarface Squadron Aircraft. This aircraft's armour has been reinforced at the expense of stability. With the main military force unable to respond, the mercenary tactical strike force, Scarface, was entrusted to rescue the Usean continent from the hands of a brutal military coup d'etat.

 

F-22A Raptor – MOBIUS – (200 Microsoft Points)

The Heroes of Ace Combat: Distant Thunder, Mobius Squadron Aircraft. Fated with single handedly maintaining air superiority, this aircraft's armaments know no parallel. However, necessary reduction of armour has resulted in low damage control. A lone pilot, Mobius' battle record exceeded that of an entire squadron.

 

F-15E Strike Eagle – CIPHER – (200 Microsoft Points)

The hero of Ace Combat: The Belkan War, Cipher's Aircraft. This aircraft's armour has been lightened to facilitate greater fire power. Fully customized preemptive striking capabilities place this fighter at the forefront of any battle. As the leader of the Republic of Ustio's Mercenary Galm Unit, Cipher's overwhelming fighting skills amidst the escalating conflict quickly earned him the moniker, "The Demon of the Round Table". Both feared and respected, his was the path of a true ace.

 

F-15E Strike Eagle – PIXY – (200 Microsoft Points)

Ace Combat: The Belkan War, Wingman Pixy Aircraft. Armour has been lightened to increase stability. With an array of counterstrike customizations, this aircraft can immediately adapt to changes on the battlefield. The Republic of Ustio's Mercenary Galm Unit No. 2, "Pixy" nearly lost his left wing during combat, but miraculously completed the mission and returned to base, earning him the name "Solo Wing Pixy". He continued his military career earning numerous accolades as Cipher's wingman.

 

A-10A ThunderBolt – XMAS – (200 Microsoft Points)

Holiday Aircraft. Seemingly unaffected by gravity, even during inverted flight, exceptional aerodynamic performance is achieved at the expense of this aircraft's otherwise characteristic durability. This is an A-10A of a different breed.

 

F-117A Night Hawk – THE IDOLMASTER YUKIHO – (400 Microsoft Points)

THE IDOLMASTER, Yukiho Hagiwara Aircraft. A little on the shy side, this aircraft boasts impressive moves when trying its best. It's up to you to make this star shine!

Rez HD Hands-On

We dive into a near-final version of Q Entertainment's atmospheric shooter as it heads to Xbox Live Arcade.

From the looks of everything we played and heard, Rez is definitely going to be a game worth picking up when it hits late January. The upgraded visuals really stand out in HD, and the price--800 Microsoft Points--makes it a no brainer to pick up. While it would be nice to have gotten some extra content, preferably new levels or something along those lines, Rez HD still packs a lot of appeal and is one to watch out for next month.

Backwards compatible Xbox games showing up on Gamercards

Knuckles Dawson informed Xbox 360 Fanboy that backward compatible Xbox games are now showing up on Xbox 360 Gamercards after the Fall Update. The games do not appear on Xbox.com Gamercards, only on the 360 itself (under the Games Played tab in the Games blade.) The games are listed with the notice "0 of 0 Achievements." Also, only games you've played since the Fall Update will show up.
