Seriously - if you don't find something to love about BioShock, we'd recommend a trip to the nearest doctor to check if your heart's still beating.

privateer Δημοσ. 18 Αυγούστου 2007 Μέλος Δημοσ. 18 Αυγούστου 2007 Halo 3 Co-op and Single Player Hands on impressions Halo has come along way; it seems like only yesterday we were carrying our huge and heavy Xbox consoles home, eager to pop in the game everyone was talking about around the world, Halo: Combat Evolved. Then all of a sudden we found ourselves playing the next installment of Halo, with Xbox Live support and a story that somewhat left us empty, with its “to be continued” type ending. In comes Halo 3 with the tag “Finish the Fight” only a few years after Halo 2, surely this is the ultimate Halo game, the last in the trilogy revolving around Master Chief. When we last saw Halo 3, it was during the Beta and boy did it lift off. Bungie has taken all the feedback from the public beta and seriously turned Halo 3ʼs multiplayer into the perfect blend of Halo 1 and Halo 2, and its showing. Upon arrival, we were split up into two teams: Red vs. Blue. Each team had a 25 minute presentation in the auditorium in the Hoyts directorʼs suite that was hosted by Bungies very own Frankie and Lars. They took us through the story mode, but they gave us an insight on how the COOP mode works. Playing through the 3rd level of the game called Tsavo Highway, which is the lead up to New Mombasa. Frankie and Lars simply awed us with how well the coop worked. One being Master Chief and the other the Arbiter, they progressed through most of the game on the Warthog through the level that took place mostly outdoors. The battles were intense and hard, in-fact they had to restart from the latest checkpoints multiple times because they simply kept getting their asses kicked. AI looked better then ever, with enemies constantly flanking you from every which way, they can do this more often now thanks to the openness of the levels. The graphics in the single player campaign looked a whole heap better then the beta we played a few months ago, in fact it looked FANTASTIC especially later in the level when this HUGE mother ship just comes from behind you, and flies above your head and heads straight. The ship is no more then 20 feet above you, and you can see extreme detail on the craft, it literally brought almost everyone in the presentation on their knees with a loud AWEEEEE. Frankie and Lars seemed pretty happy with the reaction. They later showed off the games replay saving system, which i'm sure will keep most people happy, as you can literally replay anything you have played, slow it down, pause it and take screenshots so itʼs uploaded on Bungie.net (much like Forza 2). We later got to give the COOP a bash with four people on four 40 inch LCDs, it was pretty noisy at the event and we were spread out around 15 meters, so we couldnʼt really talk and discuss tactics. But because the environments were so freaking huge, we would come to forks on the road, and you just know as an instinct that you both separate in each of your warthogs and meet up at the end of the fork where the trail joins up again. Here if you time your entry to the enemy zone correctly, one team or the other will be flanking the enemy, as who ever arrives at the enemy zone first are likely to get fired on. Once done you just meet up with each other again and tear through the rest of the level, in two warthogs driving bumper to bumper. While the game does not differ much from its predecessors, Iʼve always said that if it aint broke then donʼt fix it. The only one complaint Iʼve had were that the visuals in the beta, while looking great, were slightly underwhelming thanks to the lack of anti-aliasing. Thank-fully, the games visuals have been cleaned up and it shows straight off the bat, the lighting is looking fantastic, the AA has been turned up and the game just feels a whole lot smoother. Other then that, the multiplayer is practically the same as the beta with the exception of a few tweaks that you can only notice after picking up the controller. We were able to play on the new and improved Zanzibar, and it has changed for the good giving the gamer more pathways around the entire map, such as little board walks around the perimeter of the level and an extension to the indoor portion of Zanzibar. We were also privilege enough to play an entirely new map, a map that was said to be a world exclusive to Australians who attended Fox Studios for the Halo 3 event. It was shown off in a charity match, where a blue team and a red team did battle with the two teams representing two charities and the winning team that won scored the charity they were assigned to $1000. Frankie was captain of one red team while Lars was the captain of the blue team. Larsʼs team won by around 10 kills thanks to the help of Cabel and Cronulla Sharks forward Lance Thompson. The map titled ʽNarrowsʼ will be a favorite amongst Halo fans Iʼm sure, thanks to the fact that you wont find anywhere to hide in this level, its constant action all the time. This map is very similar to a map once seen in the original Unreal Tournament, with two towers either side a narrow bridge, with a man cannon on either side that will launch you across the entire map. If two people launch on the man cannon at the same time from either end then prepare for an air battle, if one of you does not take the other out you will bump into each other mid-flight and plummet to your untimely deaths; so be sure take your enemy out or you both die. All in all I was impressed with Halo 3, although it doesnʼt differ much from Halo 2 gameplay wise, this isnʼt necessarily a bad thing. I just am worried that the fact that itʼs feeling like the same game again will cause people to start getting tired of it after a while. Ahh who am I kidding, this is Halo, people wont get tired of it. The single player looks fantastic and will be sure to please and the multiplayer is at its classic best, it feels a lot more like Halo 1 and Halo 2 joined together to make one mega Halo game. Cons: - Weird (though rare) framerate issues; - cutscenes are kind of long. For most 360 gamers, Blue Dragon is going to be a hard sell, but for that sliver of the community that longs for a return to the days of Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest, you simply couldn't do any better. Without question, it's one of the longest games available on the 360, clocking in at roughly 60 hours depending on how quickly you blaze through it. For huge anime/JRPG geeks like us, Blue Dragon is a fantastic game as long as you can make it through the first few plodding hours and don't mind the hyper-cute character design. Now, if you'll excuse us, we need to go see if we can pick up a version of the boss fight music without the lyrics for future karaoke parties.
