According to a statemnt by John Carmack, one of gaming's legendary figures, iD software's new main weapon of choice will be the Xbox360. How on earth Microsoft got him to not only decide this but openly promote it, is a mystery. This is going to sway more than a few PC industry people.

το ξέσκισαν το θέμα πάλι σε λίγο θα βγάλουν το demo από το 2κ7 σε NTSC και PAL ακόμα να βγεί....

εχω ξαναγραψει οτι ο carmack ητανε consultant μαζι με αλλους κορυφαιους οταν μαζεψε τον κοσμο η microsoft στο τραπεζι για να βγουνε τα specs. επισης οι αποψεις του και οι παρατηρησεις του παιξανε σημαντικο ρολο στα toolkits.

 

η m$ ακουσε, οποτε λογικο ειναι οτι οι developers προτιμανε κατι που σχεδιαστηκε (στο βαθμο του εφικτου) συμφωνα με τις προτιμησεις τους...

 

 

John Carmack, id's engine genius, part-time rocketeer and the man behind the original Doom and Quake engines, has revealed in a brand new interview that Xbox 360 will be id's chosen console platform as the company embraces its next-generation future.

 

It's a bold statement to make, given id's almost exclusive PC development history (although recent forays have included Doom RPG for mobile and Quake IV on 360) but Carmack told PC Gamer UK that the 360 is a 'really sweet development system' and that it will be his main 'target' for future id games.

However, there was good news for PC fans reeling from the shock of seeing one of their favourite developers switching its focus from PC to the supposed console dark side. Carmack admitted that despite 360's impeccable tech credentials, it still wasn't a match for the big beige box. "They can quote these incredibly high numbers of giga-glops or tera-flops or whatever, but in reality they're significantly slower than a modern high-end PC."

 

Unsurprisingly for a man who built his reputation as one of the world's leading engine builders,it was the Xbox 360's graphical capabilities which had Carmack most excited: "The graphics systems are much better. The capabilities of the Xbox 360 are really good on the graphics side - although, not head or shoulders above any PC stuff you can buy at a higher price point.

λεει οτι ειναι σαφως πιο ρεαλιστικο απο το NBA LIVE 06 αλλα λιγοτερο fun to play..

περιμενουμε το NBA JAM 360 μαλλον..

Big publishers embrace Xbox Live Arcade, promise original titles

 

"As the business has grown, we now are swamped--completely swamped--with folks that want in Arcade, large publishers and small publishers alike .... the Capcoms, Namcos, Midways, Konamis, EAs--those types of guys were like, 'Yeah, maybe one or two titles.' Now they're coming out with us saying, 'oh, we wanna do 25 titles. We wanna do 20 titles. We're starting up a division to do arcade titles.' So we have a huge amount of opportunities from the large publishers. Not just back-catalog stuff... The retro stuff is part of it, but it's also new content they wanna develop for arcade..."

το demo απο full auto το έχει και στο επίσημο περιοδικό για xbox360 καλό φαίνεται αλλά δεν ενθουσιάστικα μάλλον δεν είναι το είδος του παιχνιδιού που με συναρπάζει...όσο για το nba2k6 σύμφωνα με το πιο έγκυρο forum σχετικά με αθλητικά (http://www.operationsports.com) είναι το καλύτερο bball game ever made με διαφορά. Αν βάλεις έναν άσχετο να κρίνει ένα παιχνίδι μπάσκετ θα βάλει 66 γιατί αυτός ήθελε να καρφώνουν οι παίχτες απο τη σέντρα και έχει και fatalities και headshots στους φιλάθλους σε sniper mode. γιαυτό και ign, 1up Κλπ είχαν άσχετα reviews μόνο gamespot έκανε λίγο καλύτερη δουλειά.

Analyst Mike Wallace from UBS Securities has made the prediction that Sony's Playstation 3 will out sell Microsoft's Xbox 360 in 2008.

 

Mr. Wallace believes that Sony will play with 7 million PS3s sold with the Xbox 360 maintaining a lead of 10 million units sold in 2007. He also predicts the Revolution at a distant third place of 3 million units sold. By the end of 2008 however he believes that Sony will once again become the dominant player.

 

In 2009, UBS predicts the PS3 on top with 23 million sold, the Xbox360 at 20 million sold, and the Revolution with 10 million sold.

 

Microsoft has currently sold 600,000 Xbox 360s to date with an expected surge of units in time to meet the PS3 launch head on. When the PS3 will launch is still currently in the air, but all signs from Sony point to things heating up soon.

..παντως η σχετικη ελλειψη της κονσολας απο τα ραφια στο τελος του 2005 βοηθησε στις πωλησεις software της προηγουμενης γενιας (xbox included) στις γιορτες,

καθως και αυξησε τα κερδη (το καθε xbox360 πωλειται με ζημία).
