Xbox 360 HD-DVD drive sold at US$ 72.54 at Sam's Club

According to a forum post at retail site Fatwallet.com, a few Sam's Club warehouses in the US are selling dirt-cheap Microsoft Xbox 360 HD-DVD drives to interested parties at the low price of US$ 72.54, far below Microsoft's suggested retail price.

KOTOR MMO in development?

BioWare's online team tipped to be working on massively multiplayer Knights of the Old Republic console title

BioWare has formed a new online team to create a Star Wars: Knight of the Old Republic massively multiplayer online game, EGM reports.

No further details were reported in the rumour section of the US magazine but we've taped our fingers crossed. KOTOR is one of our favourite Star Wars games ever and the thoughts of an online MMO is, frankly, too much to take in.

The magazine also reports on a few other BioWare-related rumours. The current PC-exclusive Dragon Age is coming to PS3 and the DS currently in development at the mega-studio looks to be from the Baldur's Gate franchise. They're all rumours at the moment but we'll keep you updated with any announcements.

Crackdown DLC screenshot

Realtime Worlds has been teasing us about Crackdown downloadable content for a couple of months now, but this week community liaison "Agent G" offered us a genuine glimpse of it - courtesy of a screen-capture posted on the official forums.

So that'd be what that is just over there, in case you're wondering.

As you can see, there are four buggies on-screen. Buggies we haven't seen before. And Agent G suggests that this new vehicle will be part of a new gametype, too.

The fact there are four buggies ties in quite neatly with what producer Phil Wilson told you a month ago in our Crackdown community Q&A: "One of the new (and in my humble opinion great fun) downloadable content game modes came from looking at a co-op video posted online, and credit will eventually be given to those folks that had the original idea." Could be, couldn't it?

The other thing we might be able to expect from downloadable content is more gamerpoints, with 100 still to be accounted for.

Indeed, Microsoft's rules for gamerpoints insist that each boxed game offer 1000 without levying an additional charge, so there's the definite possibility of free content, whether or not this is actually it.

Wilson dropped other hints about downloadable content too, so why not read the full interview while you warm up your Xbox 360 and dust down your Agent?

Oh, and Agent G says we can expect it "soon".

The Path Ahead - Blog #26 Too Human

Last week was a great week for Too Human. IGN was successful in getting the good word out there with gameplay video, hands-on previews, interviews and screen shots. The response was universally positive and we are really happy to see so many people share our excitement for our game Hopefully it is now apparent that Too Human is an inimitable convergence of ideas and concepts. We believe this convergence will result in a unique game experience that really pushes our Engagement Theory. Time will tell, and you, as gamers, will be the final judge.

What are we working on currently? Here is a quick list for those who are interested:

Character models – many of the wolf trooper faces were not completed and are being completely redone

Heimdalʼs model will be significantly upgraded

Animation blending was not tuned on properly in the combat shown in the demo. Too Human looks much better with blending turned on

Animation in general is being polished, and more transition animations are being added

We have not started optimizing specifically for frame rate yet, but we will have a game at a solid 30fps when we are finished

Effects are being added and polished

Lip sync was off by several frames because of a code problem. This has been fixed

We are polishing the 18 different weapon classes. Thatʼs right . We only showed 4 in the demo: 1-handed sword, pistols, 2-handed staff (glaive) and a heavy laser. There is so much more we have not shown.

We are also doing some camera tweaking

The feedback on the forums was great, but we want to hear more! The 360 Degrees of Too Human is something we will be watching carefully. We are looking forward to hearing from everyone!

What is the course ahead? Well, I am happy to officially announce the kick-off of Silicon Knightsʼ weekly blogs, where every director in the company will be able to share with you what they are working on and tell you the things they feel are important for Too Humanʼs players to know. We have many things planned for each blog that we think everyone will enjoy. Too Human is by far the largest game we have ever developed. Indeed, the amount of content is approximately 3 to 5 times more then any previous game we have completed.

We are also looking forward to seeing the future updates at Too Human.net. They were here for the IGN visit and I am sure they will add an interesting perspective on what they saw. They have really improved the website with version 3.0. Check it out! There is tons of detailed information for the keen Too Human enthusiast.

The future of Too Human is looking pretty bright and we hope you like what you see.

Denis.
