p3tran Δημοσ. 21 Απριλίου 2007 Δημοσ. 21 Απριλίου 2007 Microsoft Responds to March NPD Data The Xbox 360 outsells PS3 again. April 20, 2007 - March NPD numbers were released yesterday, and each of the big 3 console manufacturers has spent all morning scrambling to spin the results in its own favor. Microsoft happily announced this morning that it has continued to lead Sony's next-gen offering in sales with a total of 199K units sold in March. Microsoft made no mention of the Wii's March sales figures. Microsft reps went on to boast of the console's attach rate, with on average 5.7 games sold per console for the month of March. Microsoft was quick to attribute these sales to several of its top-selling titles, namely Def Jam: Icon, Guitar Hero II, Major League Baseball 2K7, and Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2. Microsoft seemed particularly giddy regarding the success of the Xbox 360 version of Guitar Hero II, which sold a whopping 291,000 units after only five days on store shelves. The company is quite clearly reveling in stealing a major exclusive from Sony, stating, "Games like Guitar Hero II that were once PlayStation exclusives are now enabling consumers to have more choices when it comes to platform selection, while also broadening our portfolio of games that appeal to customers of all ages." Looking forward, Microsoft mentioned a number of licensed titles that it expects to have wide appeal through the summer. The company expects Shrek the Third, Spiderman 3, and Pirate's of the Caribbean all to have appeal to a broad audience. The company also reiterated the imminent April 29 release of the Xbox 360 Elite. http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/782/782266p1.html 5.7 games ανα κονσολα sold μετα απο τοσους μηνες ειναι κατι που ειμαι σιγουρος το κοιτανε αυτη τη στιγμη πολλες εταιριες με γουρλωμενα ματια. επισης guitar hero rocks!!

xrest Δημοσ. 23 Απριλίου 2007 Δημοσ. 23 Απριλίου 2007 Why is Halo 3 beta so short? Bungie admits that it's been pestered quite a lot recently about why the Halo 3 multiplayer beta set to launch in less than a month is just "three short weeks long". Inevitably, it says it's down to getting the actual game ready. "The number one reason is that the longer we're spending resources taking care of the beta, the less time we're applying what we've learned from it to the final game," says web hero Frank O'Connor in this week's Bungie website update. "And statistically, three weeks is going to seem like a pretty long time when you look at the hours you log on the game," he adds, confidently. "The reasons you're getting three maps is similar, but has as much to do with our normal production schedule as anything else. It's easier to think of why you're not getting the rest of the maps. They're not done yet. All are geometry complete, but they're being polished and tuned for graphics and gameplay ʽtil the last minute. You could say that the maps you're playing are the best balanced and most complete so far. "But they will change slightly, maybe noticeably when the game finally ships in fall. So by all means, learn ʽem well next month, but don't get used to anything you see in there. Objects may have shifted while in flight." We're also told to expect a full FAQ on the Bungie site when the beta goes live on 16th May, or possibly the day before. Meanwhile, the developer has apologised to anybody who had problems getting hold of last week's Halo 2 maps. And if you're still having problems, you shouldn't for much longer, with most players able to grab them on Friday although "a few of you might have to wait until Monday". "And again, oops, our bad." For more on Halo 2 and 3, say "8/10" in the comments and see where it gets you.

His conclusion was based on "objective numbers" taken from the Microsoft's financial statements, which show a total loss of USD 5.4 billion from its efforts. "Microsoft needs to take a long, hard look at its gaming strategy: and, in fact, its entire H&E [Home and Entertainment] strategy," Ehrenberg stated on Forbes.com. "At what point, regardless of its virtually endless financial resources, does it say 'enough is enough'?" "Would we have been better served by returning the extra cash to shareholders rather than investing it in a franchise that seems to have questionable prospects for turning around? These are the kinds of questions Microsoft management should be asking. And hopefully, for shareholders' sakes, they are." Apparently the company's focus on hardcore gamers has left it with a dwindling user base. If it continues with the same strategy then he believes it will have a problem. Instead, Ehrenberg reckons, it should take a long hard look at Nintendo's master plan, with a mass-market approach and cheaper console. He even cites EA as measure of how successful a particular console is considered to be, believing that the more games the publisher throws at the hardware the more important it is. Which makes us scratch our heads, because Xbox 360 has had and continues to have strong support from EA. "Nothing short of a tectonic transformation in perception of Xbox 360 relative to its competitors," will change things, he added. It is fair to say Microsoft hasn't enjoyed the success it dreamt of in Japan, which Ehrenberg picks up on, but its persistence with JRPGS like Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey could show strong will power. Not to mention the success of Gears of War across the region. We can't help but think Mr. Ehrenberg would fit right in to our very own comments threads. And if he did, what would you like to ask him?

Amazing Things To Happen On April 28th: 1758 - James Monroe, 5th President of the United States is born. 1788 - Maryland becomes the seventh state to ratify the Constitution of the United States. 1932 - A vaccine for yellow fever is announced for use on humans. (Then nothing really happened for a long time.... but now....) 2007 - What goes down this April 28th is equal to, if not surpasses, the magnitude of any of those. Who's ready?! Rumor has it that Activision and Infinity Ward will unveil next Saturday the next installment in the Call of Duty series.

We are managing the Xbox business to achieve our target of profitability in FY08 and in the short-term, this means we will optimize for profitability rather than share. We believe this puts us in a strong market and financial position as we go into FY08, a year that will feature a number of catalysts, highlighted by the strongest first and third party game line up weʼve ever had. Currently, Xbox 360 is available in more than 37 markets around the world and we expect to exit June having sold about 12 million units since launch. We continue to maintain our record-setting software attach rate – currently at 5.4 games per console – and expect more than 300 high-definition titles by end of year.
