C&C3 Gets Demo, Release Date

 

Released on PC at the end of March, Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars has been well-received by both the media and PC gamers. Xbox 360 owners will get their chance to see how the RTS plays on a console when it is released for their system on May 10.

 

EA made a commendable, but not perfect, attempt at translating a PC RTS to the 360 last summer with Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle Earth II. C&C3 is using the same engine as Battle for Middle Earth, and EA has apparently been doing some "plumbing" to make the console controls even smoother. Before C&C3's release we'll get a chance to see if EA has improved the transition with a demo to be released in the coming weeks on Xbox Live.

Microsoft development group boss Chris Satchell recently talked-up the Xbox 360's 2007 line-up, telling us that the company isn't relying on "just Halo 3."

 

"What we're riding on is the whole portfolio," he said. "We've got the biggest games coming out throughout the year and I think people are going to look at the whole portfolio and say that's the reason to go and buy the console, not just Halo 3.

 

"You've seen the games like Mass Effect - which is just phenomenal, Halo 3, GRAW 2 because I love GRAW." He continues: "You've got Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Forza Motorsport 2 - and those are all first-party, if you look at third-party stuff as well there's just amazing games coming out like the next installment of Splinter Cell."

 

MS got its '07 campaign off to a kicking start with Lost Planet and Realtime World's Crackdown, and Guitar Hero II landing last week. Moving further through the calendar Forza Motorsport 2 is penciled for May, cross-platform blaster Shadowrun in June and BioWare's sexy RPG Mass Effect somewhere thereafter.

Perfect Dark Zero Sequel

 

Remember Perfect Dark Zero when the Xbox 360 launched? It was the prequel to Perfect Dark, some people didnʼt like the game and thought it didnʼt live up to expectations. I enjoyed the game a lot and still play it today. Back in January 2007 a new book was released called Perfect Dark: Second Front to go along with the Perfect Dark videogames and continue the story. Well here is something from the May 2007 issue of OXM in the Rumor Mole Section:

 

The Moleʼs pals in the book industry have tipped us off to a sequel to Perfect Dark Zero by way of a press release announcing the next novel in the paperback series that also mentions a follow-up to the game…

 

Would you purchase the sequel by Rare? I know I will, Perfect Dark Zero was a great game. Or this game could just get ignored because it isnʼt Halo. So hereʼs a tip Rare on developing the game: have party matchmaking in it and people will like it more.

Vigilante 8 crashing onto the Arcade?

 

 

This week seems to be plagued with rumours of potential Xbox Live Arcade titles that might be coming our way. In a refreshing spin, the source for suggesting the game is real is not from Rating Boards, but from portfolios of a couple of people who have worked on the game. Full details inside.

 

Picked up by Angry Gamer, several artist related portfolios strongly suggest that the game is, at the very least, in development. Artist Dan Savage has a clear-as-day message on his portfolio that the game is Available to download on Xbox 360 Live in summer 07′.
