BioShock Collector's Edition Coming?

Only 5,000 signatures needed on petition to make it happen, says official 2K Games site.

 

Want 2K Games to release a BioShock collector's edition? Sign a petition and it may happen.

 

On Cultofrapture.com, the official 2K Games website for BioShock, a community manager says that 5,000 signatures on an online petition may be enough to make it happen.

 

Elizabeth Tobey of 2K writes:

 

"I've had quite a few people ask me if there will be a BioShock collector's edition. Then, today, an enterprising fan made a petition asking 2K to make one. So I talked with some people who were older and wiser than me, and pled the case of the fans. And if we get 5000 signatures on this petition, I have gotten word that they'll make a limited edition of BioShock.

 

So what do you say? Think we can do it? Think we can get 5000 signatures?

Team Fortress 2 could support Vista vs. 360 play

 

Valve says there is no technical reason why Team Fortress 2 players on the PC running Windows Vista couldn't play with and against Team Fortress 2 players on the Xbox 360.

 

 

"We'd love to, technically from our side, there's no reason why we can't," Robin Walker, designer and engineer at Valve, told GameInformer.

 

"t really comes down to knowing Microsoft has announced that Shadowrun is going to do that, but they haven't let anyone outside of Microsoft, I mean we don't have an API or anything."

 

Asked whether fan-made modifications for the PC version could conceivably appear on Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 as downloadable content, Walker said, "From our perspective, we'd like to do it all.

 

"We'd love to have the Xbox and PC play together, and technically, from our side, there's no technical reason why you can't - the engine is the same, the network they use is the same."

 

"It really comes down to negotiations with Microsoft," he added.

 

Cross-platform multiplayer is one of the key elements of Microsoft's (slightly bewildering) "Games for Windows - LIVE" service, due to launch on 18th May, with Shadowrun and UNO likely to be the first games that allow PC players to mingle with and generally kill their Xbox 360 counterparts.

 

Team Fortress 2 is due out this winter as part of bundles on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 - with the latter in development at an EA studio in the UK.

Codemasters unveils the first gameplay trailer of Colin McRae: Dirt on the 360 Marketplace. The game is several months from its June release but it already looks quite good, if not as spectacular as some of the screenshots.

Update: Fixed version with better sound sync (but not perfect) online. A proper 720p version will be online tonight.

Microsoft prepping component to HDMI adapter?

 

Friendly tipster Evan M wasn't too stoked to see an Xbox 360 Elite headed for store shelves after he'd just purchased a Premium 360, especially considering the fact that his TV has a whole HDMI port twiddling its thumbs, just waiting to get its game on. After informing Microsoft of his displeasure through what we're sure was a politely worded email, Evan claims to have received a slightly encouraging response from a Microsoft support person, promising an upcoming HDMI to component adapter for the 'box to make his situation perhaps a bit more bearable. Unfortunately, the support person also mentioned that "we do not have information as of the moment if the cable will be sold separately," which might mean such an adapter is only destined for sales with some sort of updated Premium SKU, at least for the immediate future. We'll keep our eyes peeled.
