EA resurrecting Wing Commander on Xbox 360?

 

 

With the exception of a Game Boy Advance port of Prophecy released in 2003, almost ten years have passed since the appearance of a new Wing Commander game. Space sim fans may have something else to thrust into their crosshairs this year with a game called "Wing Commander Arena" popping up on the ESRB database. The game, seemingly published by EA for the Xbox 360, is rated "E" for "fantasy violence."

 

Your own reaction may differ considerably from ours, but when we think "fantasy violence," we think "dogfights and space cats." Rampant speculation regarding the "Arena" subtitle might indicate a Wing Commander for Xbox Live Arcade, complete with multiplayer space combat, shiny HD graphics and gratuitous use of Mark Hamill (also rendered in HD). Unfortunately, since EA did not respond to a request for comment at the time of writing, such wonderful thoughts remain purely speculative for now.

We catch up with Steve Nix of id Software and ask about the future of gaming and how id is utilizing DirectX 10.

Kυρια πλατφορμα το 360, ps3/pc multicore included, ομως οσοι θελουν τη μεγιστη δυνατη αναλυση θα πανε σε top range pc's.

αναγνωριζουν οτι πλεον πολυ πιο σημαντικη αγορα εχουν γινει οι κονσολες.

δεν ασχολουνται με dx10 ακομα, αφου βλεπουν οτι θελει χρονο το πραμα για να δημιουργηθει αγορα.

λενε οτι αμα βαλεις το doom3 σε ενα σημερινο super μηχανημα, θα διαπιστωσεις οτι ειναι στην κορυφη των γραφικων ακομα και τωρα.

στοχος τους να συνεχισουν να πουσαρουν τα γραφικα, τη φυσικη, το gameplay.

ESRB Reveals New Xbox Live Arcade Games

 

An updated ratings page on the Entertainment Software Rating Board web site has revealed new Xbox Live Arcade games.

 

Empire Interactive plans to release on Xbox Live Marketplace "Double Dragon," which we heard will get a nice makeover for this version.

 

The ESRB ratings page also reveals that EA plans to release "Wing Commander Arena" on Xbox 360. Since the game is listed as an Xbox 360 exclusive, we are pretty sure this is an Xbox Live Arcade release and not a next-generation Wing Commander.

 

We can expect these games to launch soon considering their recent appearance on ESRB records.
