Listen To Music While Playing Backward Compatible Games On 360

 

As a result of the 360 spring dash update, backwards compatibile Xbox 1 games playing on the 360 can now have music running in the background. All you have to do is start up any playslist or ripped CD in conjunction with one of your backwards compatibile titles. The controls won't be displayed but you can still take care of it via your 360 remote.

Just start up any ol' playlist or a ripped CD and fire up Halo 2 or any other XBOX 1 game that suits your fancy. While the controls won't be there when you hit the guide button, you can still control the action with your 360 remote (if you have one).

It's been a little over a year since Sony first announced its upcoming PlayStation 3 console. In that time, plenty of hype (not to mention barbs) have flown between the Microsoft and Sony camps, each attempting to tout their machine as the "better" offering. After all, who can forget when Sony's Phil Harrison took the stage at the European Game Developer's Conference in the fall of 2005 and talked critically about Microsoft's plan to release two retail versions of the Xbox 360?

"Are there two versions of the Xbox 360 that people want to buy? I don't know," said Harrison. "I look at those formats. I think it just confuses the audience. They don't know which one to buy, developers don't know which one to create for, and retailers don't know which one to stock...So I think we wouldn't take that strategy. We wouldn't create confusion."

X360: More Than Meets the Eye?

Microsoft's next-gen system might be transforming in a film near you.

 

June 10, 2006 - SPOILER ALERT! According to a review of leaked script from The Movie Reporter Michael Bay's upcoming Transformers movie is more for sale than meets the eye.

 

According to the script synopsis many of our favorite home electronics are going to make special Transformer-style cameos. According to the author, "For reasons that I won't get into we see an I-Pod, X-Box 360 and Plasma screens sprout legs and transform just a bit." If this scene makes it into the final movie we're sure it will draw more groans from the audience than move units off the shelves.

THQ has announced that its upcoming open-world action adventure game, Saints Row, is scheduled to ship to North American retailers on August 29, 2006. Currently being developed for the Xbox 360 by Volition, Saints Row sets the player as a member of the Third Street Saints, a gang trying desperately to take back the streets from three rival gangs that hold the city.

 

An evolution in open world gaming, Saints Row provides an unprecedented amount of freedom to experience the game as the player sees fit. Freeform game play gives you lot of choices. You can purchase an item at a store, or rob the cashier at gunpoint and run away with the cash, unless you prefer to break in at night for a full-scale robbery.

The firmware is 99% complete and just requires one more routine to test when I get back home. I will then port the 47 code over to the 46 version. This will be released within 48 hours time.

It will not require a full firmware update, only a few banks. You will not be required to save/inject your drive key but saving a copy is always best. The checksum will be set to zero for the firmware. Since I dont have a 46 drive you people will have to test and report. I will then look at the 59 version firmware. I have only been spending one hour a night due to real life and have been away for the past three days so please be patient. Assembling with a hex editor is not fun but it gets the job done.

Also it was me on IRC yesterday just to let shr00m know .
