Too Human Info From EGM

 

The new EGM has a cover story featuring Too Human, the new Silicon Knights Xbox360 game. EGM talks about the control scheme a lot, the details are as follows: The left stick moves the main character Baldur, the left trigger fires left hand weapon, the right trigger fires right hand weapon and a is jump. Denis Dyack outlines that the Jump is used for air combat. The right analog stick is used for melee attacks.

 

The game story is a combination of technology and Norse mythology. There are Valkyries, Loki makes an appearance, and all mixed in with tons of super-advanced machines and weapons. The game is set to be a trilogy, according to Dyack, and it will have the underpinnings of an epic story along the lines of Xenosaga. More info when we have it!

Xbox Eu Chief says 'Blu Ray Reminds us of Betamax'

 

German website Spiegel caught up with the European Xbox chief Chris Lewis to discuss the troubles of the Xbox 360 in Japan, the tastes of German gamers as well as not missing the opportunity to take a dig at Sony. He has also revealed that the HD-DVD drive for the Xbox 360 is still in the pipeline, with a little more being revealed at E3.

The rhythm we're dancing to is our own. The consumers are voting with their wallets. We have the next generation console, it's here now, in high definition, with great content. Let's wait and see what actually comes through.

 

SPIEGEL ONLINE: But the PS3 will contain a Blu-ray DVD-player -- which might actually attract customers ...

 

Lewis: Blu-ray right now reminds us of another technology from Sony: Betamax. A bit like VHS -- we think that HD DVD is the format that consumers, film studios and publishers will embrace. As you're mentioning the cost of Blu-ray -- we think it's about giving consumers choice, we think it's about not necessarily asking them to pay over the odds for a technology that, at the moment, is unproven. It's an interesting bet to play -- we're watching what goes on, but I think we're offering a broader, more flexible choice that doesn't burden the consumer with a cost element that may be wasted.

 

SPIEGEL ONLINE: Is the HD-DVD-drive for the Xbox 360 still in the pipeline?

 

Lewis: Absolutely, yes. We'll say a little bit more about it at E3. It will give people access to HD DVD.

SPIEGEL ONLINE: But the 360 doesn't have an HDMI-Interface -- so you won't actually be able to watch any HD DVD Movies on it because the obligatory copy protection mechanisms are missing.

 

Lewis: All I can say to you is -- there are interesting developments in the pipeline. We will make sure that the HD-DVD-peripheral device will meet all the requirements for consumers to enjoy high-definition DVD playback.

Kotaku reports that the upcoming Cadillac Project Gotham Racing 3 addon is going to be free. What's the catch? A little in-game ad product placement:

Ubisoft wages war on next-gen consoles

 

Announced today for PC and PS3 - although the official announcement does not explicitly rule out a launch on other platforms - Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway is the third title in Ubisoft's multi-million selling, critically acclaimed WWII series from independent developers Gearbox Software.

 

While Microsoft continues to enjoy an unrivalled market lead in next generation hardware, it's the software that ultimately defines success or failure. Although there's nothing in the announcement to say that the new game won't ever be appearing on the Xbox 360, the fact that the title will debut this holiday season as one of the early launch titles for Sony's new machine may come as a bit of a blow to the Redmond-based giant.

 

It could be argued that Ubisoft is attempting to mirror the success of Activision's Call of Duty 2, which quickly became the best selling Xbox 360 launch title around the same time last year, but placing platform loyalty for such a high profile title at this stage will surely not go unnoticed.

FiringSquad: What can you tell us at the moment about your plans for Brothers In Arms 3, the first next-gen console game in the series?

 

Randy Pitchford: I have to say that I am really eager to talk about Brothers in Arms for the next generation, but have to take it slow until E3. I can tell you that what the team has been doing is just unbelievable - really... It's amazing what a real next-gen game can look like. What you need to do is to go out and buy the April issue of Official Xbox Magazine - it has a two page teaser about it. The May issue has a cover story - the screenshots should speak for themselves. BiA 3 shows how good real next gen can look.

FiringSquad: What is your opinion on the upcoming next-generation consoles (PS3 and Revolution) and how they compare to the already released Xbox 360?

 

Randy Pitchford: The 360 is a really exciting machine for us. I encourage any serious gamer to get one as soon as they can manage. I love mine with many of the titles that have already launched and I know there are some really amazing, truly next-gen games that won't be far off. I can personally vouch for the next-gen quality of Brothers in Arms 3, for example.

Brothers in Arms μόνο για PS3 και PC?

Xτές η Ubisoft ανακοίνωσε την κυκλοφορία της τρίτης συνέχειας του δημοφιλούς παιχνιδιού Brothers In Arms, που θα φέρει τον τίτλο Brothers in Arms Hell's Highway. Παρότι απο την ανακοίνωση δεν αποκλείεται η κυκλοφορία σε άλλες πλατφόρμες, η Ubisoft είπε οτι θα κυκλοφορήσει για το PS3 και PC αυτά τα χριστούγεννα, ενώ δεν υπήρχε καμία αναφορα για την κυκλοφορία του παιχνιδιού στην κονσόλα της Microsoft Xbox360. Η συγκεκριμένη ανακοίνωση μας εξέπληξε καθώς θεωρούσαμε οτι το συγκεκριμένο παιχνίδι θα κυκλοφορούσε ταυτόχρονα και για άλλες πλατφόρμες, σίγουρα θα αποτελέσει πλήγμα για το 360 εάν όντως η κυκλοφορία του επόμενου Brothers In Arms χάσει την πολύ προσοδοφόρα εορταστική περίοδο.
