Over 1.7 million units of Oblivion for the PC and Xbox 360 have been shipped since the launch of the game. In North America, Oblivion has become the fastest selling game released on the Xbox 360. The NPD Group Inc reports Oblivion PC as the best selling PC game, while the Oblivion Collectors Edition is ranked number 2. NPD reports that Oblivion represented approximately 13% of all PC game sales in the first week of its release, more than four times the sales volume of the next best selling title. (The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, the highly-regarded predecessor to Oblivion, remains one of the top 25 best selling PC games nearly four years after its release, according to NPD). European results have been similarly strong with Oblivion quickly becoming ranked the number one selling title in the UK, Germany and France. I've been a bit too busy for the GAF this week... sorry, NeoGAF), and yeah... the game fucking rules. Its the next, great party game. Its a nice mix of both, though it's certain is a bit more arcade-ish than a straight-forward sim. Its been noted that the game very Virtua Tennis-like, which is how I approached the game, though truth be told, the controls aren't the same, and thinking it would be as such made things very tricky, at least at first (its actually a good deal more complex). The controls are pretty sensitive. There's this urge to run around for the ball, but its all about focusing in on the opponent, seeing what he or she will do, and reacting accordingly (and no running around like a crazy person). You'll have to forgive me if I'm overstating the obvious, since I don't play sports games, so maybe that's the way in any video game recreation. But yeah, that's where the "power of the 360" really comes into play; the facial expressions and body language of you and your opponent adds a LOT to the experience. There are four different strikes, which can be augmented a bit depending on well you're playing (which generates a super meter or sorts). To make the meter grow requires a deal of volleying back and forth, which makes sense for a sport like ping pong. One of the tricker aspects, and one which I would not mind being changed, is the way to serve the ball, which I found a bit too tricky. Otherwise, it plays very well. The little bells and whistles, such as the changes in lighting and audio to heighten the mood, and even the slow-mo, close-up shots, which I would normally find grating, really works here. I know it may seem crazy to go ga-ga for a ping pong game, but those folks are just going to have give it a shot when it becomes available.

Daredevil Δημοσ. 10 Απριλίου 2006 Δημοσ. 10 Απριλίου 2006 Microsoft targets Eastern Europe with Xbox 360 Localised Xbox Live service planned Microsoft plans to launch the Xbox 360 in Eastern Europe, the Middle East and South Africa via both specialist and mainstream retailers by the end of 2008, according to European Xbox boss Chris Lewis. Speaking to the Financial Times, Lewis said that launching in new territories was a key part of company strategy with regard to securing a strong foothold in the console market before the PlayStation 3 arrives in November. Lewis identified Hungary, the Czech Republic, Poland and Russia as key territories within Eastern Europe. He said that the Xbox 360 will go on sale in high street electronics retailers through deals with multinationals such as Media Markt and DSG International, as well as specialist retailers. Lewis went on to say that each territory will have access to a localised version of Xbox Live, enabling them to communicate with other gamers using their own language, and that local helplines will also be established. Europe is undoubtedly a key region for Microsoft with regard to the battle of the next-gen consoles. With the Xbox 360 performing well in the US but poorly in Japan, European sales could be the deciding factor in determining which of the big three leads the market following the release of the PS3 and Nintendo Revolution.
