Το πρόβλημα τελικά επιβεβαιώθηκε από την ίδια την Microsoft έστω και αργά, και μάλλον διορθώθηκε, για όσους έχουν χάσει επεισόδια και νομίζουν ακόμα πως δεν υπήρχε τίποτα.

Βγήκε κάποιο playable demo του Ninety-Nine Nights στην Ιαπωνία' date=' και παρότι είναι από πιο αναμενόμενα παιχνίδια του 2006, οι πρώτες εντυπώσεις 2 παιδιών που το έπαιξαν δεν ήταν οι καλύτερες .

Δεν είπαν όμως πως ήταν άσχημο... για του λόγου το αληθές παραθέτω τα δύο post από το πρώτο άρθρο:

 

X360 Ninety Nine Nights Demo

 

So I got my copy tonight with my pre-order and had the time to give it a few run throughs. Overall, I was impressed, but not as impressed as I was hoping to be.

 

The Good

 

It's pretty, damn pretty. The character models look excellent and are well animated. The CGI is wonderful to look at and it still manages to hold some of the feel of Kingdom Under Fire despite being a very different game.

All the juttering frame rates from the TGS demo are gone. Even when a lot is happening (and a LOT does happen) there's little to no slowdown. The final battle in the demo was me against around 250 orcs and goblins which went on with no problems.

The combat itself is nice and solid. It's quite remeniscent of that opening scene of LotR where every strike of your character's sword sends enemies flying.

 

The Bad

 

Next to no strategy involved. I know this is supposed to be a much more action-based, superbastard game, but I found it a little dissapointing that your army guys fall just as easily as the enemy so you end up doing most of the fighting yourself. The A.I. also seems a bit stuffy and quite content to sit around brandishing their weapons at trees, or passing squirrels or whatever instead of following your orders to attack.

In early interviews the developers said they wanted 80% action 20% strategy. I just hope later levels give you more of a chance to be a general instead of just a one man/woman/thing army.

 

There's pop-up. God knows why, but it's there. Not a lot, but it looks odd when you can have 50 odd enemy soldiers tearing down on you with no problem, but rocks appear and disappear from the background.

 

The environments seem drab and unexciting, rocks, rocks, mountains, old trees.. very grey, but this is only one level so I'm just nit-picking)

 

Overall, I'm still excited about this game, and I'm intending be picking it up day one. There's a load of potential there to make a good, epic game and I hope it's realised in the final product.

 

+Nice hero character models.

+Lots of dudes on screen at once, more than Dynasty Warriors.

+Okay DOF effects in-game.

+It is awesome when you press the button and become Jesus and run around fucking shit up and killing 500 people in 2 seconds, just like Jesus would do if he were a Dynasty Warrior.

+Pretty cool "oh shit" effect when 500 dudes come over a hill on a rampage.

 

=Plays, uhh, pretty much the same as Dynasty Warriors, except for the whole Jesus part. If you're not into this genre this game will do nothing to turn you.

 

-Positively ARCHAIC lighting model. Flat, flat, flat.

-Enemies don't have the cool crazy shaders that the hero characters do.

-Environments are PS2-level. It looks like the ground is flat-shaded. God. AND Y HELLO THAR POP-IN HOW R U?

-Please alternate your damage vocal effects. UNH! UNH! UNH! UNH! UNH! UNH! UNH!

-Their animation is okay but the way it's implemented is PS2-level. Dudes are sliding all over the place and clipping through each other, and when they get into formation behind you it looks ridiculous.

-AI seems pretty stupid. I caught a few of my dudes stuck moonwalking in place, maybe they were preoccupied.

-There's not even any freaking IK on your own character so foot placement is all screwed up and clipping through the ground. Dead bodies fall flat and frequently disappear into the terrain. Then they just disappear.

-30fps with slowdown. During the boss battle my "fuck shit up" attack brought the game down to about 5fps for a very long time.

-Why isn't this a free demo download from XBLA?

 

All in all I'd like to say that it's an adequate DW clone gameplay-wise. In regards to animation and visuals this needs a total overhaul, and I'm not going to act like "OH MAYBE IT WILL BE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT AND LOOK LIKE IT WAS CRAFTED BY GOD IN ONE MONTH WHEN IT ACTUALLY COMES OUT." So there you go.

 

Και anyway είναι άτοπο να ψάχνουμε μέχρι και post σε διάφορα fora για να στηρίξουμε τη γνώμη μας... τα λεγόμενα του εκάστοτε poster δεν έχουν ούτε την αντικειμενικότητα ούτε την νηφαλιότητα ενός κανονικού review, και ακόμα κι αν τα είχαν δεν πρόκειται για τελειωμένο τίτλο αλλά για demo που μπορεί να μην ανταποκρίνεται στην ποιότητα του τελικού προϊόντος.

A Microsoft spokesperson said only a "very, very small fraction" of the units had problems, but she declined to say how many reports the company had received

 

While the problem certainly doesn't look massive, new reports are still coming in on this thread (and more accross our Xbox 360 section or on other forums like teamxbox.com). It's of course not possible for us to verify all these reports, but some people certainly have real problems with their 360.

 

the poll on the teamxbox forums suggests ~15% of the Xbox 360 owners have problems (on +400 total votes). The real % is probably lower, but it's hard to say how many exactly atm.
