Brett Leonard is to direct the fifth Highlander movie to tell the story of four new charismatic Immortals as they quest to locate the Holy Grail of their world.

Dimension Films has reportedly given Highlander: The Source the green light.

Joel Soisson is apparently writing the new installment. It's believed he was

hired based on the strength of him writing a draft and then being hired to

write and direct the forthcoming Prophecy sequels for the studio. "Joel has

added a new aspect to his original plot that really opens things up and

drives the movie in a much more exciting way", an insider on the production

is quoted as saying. Christopher Lambert will not be back for this new

chapter, which takes things into a new, fresh direction. This time it

centres on four new charismatic Immortals as they quest to locate the Holy

Grail of their world.

Christopher Lambert has been talking about Highlander: The Source ""Yes they're doing another one called 'Highlander : The Source', and last I heard I've got all of a days work on it for some flashback stuff. There will be a new cast, and those actors will hopefully carry on the series. It's a great story about some young highlanders who are in search of their existence's golden goose. I hear Russell [Mulcahy, the first film's director] might be back to do this new one, so I'm definitely looking forward to it and being a part of it - regardless of how small the duty is. I'm doing a fantastic movie with Adrian Rudomin called "Day of Wrath", and then we're talking about doing another "Fortress", which I'm really looking forward to".
