Daredevil Δημοσ. 8 Ιουλίου 2006 Δημοσ. 8 Ιουλίου 2006 Far Cry Wii Coming? According to Wii-uk, a recent listing at Amazon has revealed that the long-rumor Far Cry game for the Wii just may actually exist. According to the listing, the game will be released on November 16, during the launch window. Now, this is rumor will for now of course, but considering Ubisoft is learning to make FPS games work on the Wii (think Red Steel), this is not that far-fetched. >Link

As for the future of Wii Sports, the producer says that other sports may be considered for the line, possibly even for a launch title. http://www.n-sider.com/newsview.php?type=story&storyid=2282

panther_512 Δημοσ. 10 Ιουλίου 2006 Δημοσ. 10 Ιουλίου 2006 Call of Duty 3 "Most Developed" on Wii Gaming site 1UP.com recently conducted an interview with Call of Duty 3's Executive Producer Marcus Iremonger in which he discussed the Wii version of this new installment in Activision's World War II first-person shooter franchise. When asked about developer Treyarch's plans for Call of Duty 3 on Wii, Iremonger responded, "I'll tell you about the Wii, because the Wii is the one that's the most developed right now." Elaborating, Iremonger said, "What we're doing with Call of Duty is again, the whole idea of sucking you into that game world. One thing we haven't talked about yet is battle actions. I'll start off just by telling you a little about battle actions and then I'll tell you why the Wii just fits that so perfectly. So again, one of the things we wanted to do was to bring you closer than ever to the fury of combat. And one of the ways that we're doing this is through what we're calling battle actions... [which are] simply enhanced interactions with your enemy and your environment." "The Wii is perfect for this. The Wii actually allows us to bring the physical approach, but now you've going to interact physically," Iremonger continued. "Just imagine now that gun's in your hands, as a player, not just on the screen. It's in your hands, and you've got that controller, and now you're shaking that controller. Maybe you're rowing a boat across the river; now you're actually rowing the controller. So these are some of the things that are just really going make you feel like you're in that world." Call of Duty 3 is expected to release on all next-generation consoles and PSP this fall. The full 1UP.com interview, in which Iremonger also speaks about Call of Duty 3's single- and multiplayer modes, Treyarch's growth and more, can be found here.

panther_512 Δημοσ. 11 Ιουλίου 2006 Δημοσ. 11 Ιουλίου 2006 Wii is "Perfect Platform" for new TY the Tasmanian Tiger In an interview with Australia-focused Nintendo site Aussie-Nintendo, Krome Studios' Co-Founder and Creative Director Steve Stamatidiadis touched on the developer's plans to bring a new iteration of its TY the Tasmanian Tiger franchise to Wii in the future. "Yes, there will be another TY game or two from us as we feel he's definitely got staying power and a few more tricks up his sleeves for fans," Stamatidiadis informed Aussie-Nintendo. At this time, the creative director pointed out, the team is taking a break from the TY franchise, since the last five years have primarily been dedicated to that character and his respective universe. Stamatidiadis noted, though, that Krome Studios' original franchise still has a future, saying, "I think the Wii is the perfect platform for a TY game and you can bet your booties that we'll be doing one down the track." However, he also pointed out that "it'll be at least a year before we come out with a game for either [DS or Wii] as we're pretty busy working on our current projects." Krome Studios is currently developing The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning and Hell Boy for current-generation consoles. TY the Tasmanian Tiger, first incepted into the gaming world in fall 2002, is a platformer/adventure game in which players assume the role of TY - who according to the game's official site "was raised by a family of Bilbies from a very young age, and has only vague memories of his family and friends" - as he fights the forces of evil which threaten his world. The series has thus far seen three total entries across multiple platforms. The full Aussie-Nintendo interview can be found here.

panther_512 Δημοσ. 11 Ιουλίου 2006 Δημοσ. 11 Ιουλίου 2006 Free Game With Wii Toys'R'Us in Australia are now taking pre-orders for the Wii at US$249, and that will include an unspecified free game! Could Nintendo be including Wii Sports as so many have speculated? After contacting Toys'R'Us for comment, they have indeed confirmed that everyone will receive a free game with their Wii as part of the package, but they did not know which game this might be. To be sure, we called three different stores, and all said the same thing. Sounds to us like Nintendo might be planning to include Wii Sports, as many have speculated. It would make sense to include this game because it encapsulates what Wii is all about. Not only that, but it shows off how the Wiimote can be used in so many different ways. Wii Sports is basically a bunch of smaller mini-games, some of which have origins as tech demos. The idea that Nintendo decided to collate these into the Wii Sports game and include them with the Wii therefore is not so hard to believe. At least we now know there will be a game included in the package (at least at Toys'R'Us!) - but the question remains, which one? Wii Sports definately makes the most sense as it is the "Warioware" of the launch line-up for the Wii. We'll be calling more retailers today and will report back with any further updates, so stay tuned!
