Πάντως ο αδιαμφησβήτητος νικητής των pre-E3 press conference ήταν η Nintendo!

 

Παρ'όλο που λείπαν από τη παρουσίαση πολλές λεπτομέρειες, ο κόσμος ενθουσιάστηκε ακόμα περισσότερο.

 

Όλες οι συζητήσεις που γίνονται στο Internet αυτό υποδηλώνουν.

 

Πιστεύω όμως ότι και η παρουσίαση της M$ ήταν επίσης πολύ καλή, αν και μου έδωσε την αίσθηση ότι απευθυνόταν περισσότερο στους ήδη κατόχους XBOX360. Και αυτό επαυξάνεται και από τον κατακλεισμό downloadable trailers από το Live.

 

Για όσους δεν κατέχουν XBOX360, φαίνεται ότι τους κέντρισε το ενδιαφέρον περισσότερο η Nintendo.

 

Και το καλύτερο:

Δεν μας είπαν όλα τα μυστικά!!!

Πιστεύω ότι δεν μας τα είπαν όλα, harware μυστικά, τιμή και launch date για ένα σημαντικό λόγο:

 

Πρέπει να θορυβηθήκαν αρκετά από την SONY που προσπάθησε να κλέψει λίγο από τον αέρα της Nintendo με το tilt-sensitive controller, καθώς και από την M$ με το M$ virtual-console.

 

Θα κρατήσουν τα χαρτιά τους κλειστά μέχρι τελευταίας στιγμής, πιθανώς μέχρι την TGS, ώστε να διασφαλίσουν ότι δεν θα προλάβουν οι ανταγωνιστές να τους αντιγράψουν ή να μειώσουν τις τιμές τους.

One of the questions posed in our controller comparison editorial was in relation to how long ago the decision had been made to enhance the PS3 controller with automagical motion sensing capabilities. The article states that the developer only got their hands on the technology within the last two weeks, but the actual response given by Dylan Jobe to one of the questions is far more telling. When prompted about how long they had actually known about it, Jobe responded with, "We've really known officially for about a week and a half, and we did the final tuning just a couple of days ago."

 

A couple of days ago? Yikes.

 

Note to PS3 game developers: The PS3 controller has motion sensing abilities. Just thought you might like to know.

O Daredevil έχει δίκιο, από την M$ κλάπηκε η ιδέα.

 

Θα βάζαν όμως αυτή τη δυνατότητα στο χειρηστήριο αν δεν έδειχνε η Nintendo το δικό της full-motion-sensing controller???

 

Φυσικά και όχι.

 

Επειδή λοιπόν τους αιφνιδίασε η μεγάλη Ν με το χειρηστήριο, σε μιά κίνηση πανικού, έβαλε η Sony αυτή τη δυνατότητα στο χειρηστήριό της, καθιστώντας το αυτόματα το πιό gimmick χειρηστήριο που έχουμε δεί εδώ και πολύ καιρό.

E3 2006: Resident Evil Infects Wii

 

Capcom officially announces new survival horror title specifically for Nintendo's console.

 

Publisher Capcom today announced that it is underway with a new Resident Evil game developed exclusively for Nintendo's Wii console. The game will take advantage of the system's unique controller for a new take on the atmospheric franchise.

 

"The next-generation console Wii is garnering much attention with its groundbreaking new controller. The new Resident Evil game for the console will combine the series' intense gaming experience and atmosphere with the revolutionary control system of the Wii," Capcom said in an official statement.

 

No further details about the title have been revealed. Even so, this s fantastic new for Wii fans around the world.

E3 2006: Duck Hunt Cometh

 

Grab your Wii-mote because it's time to go hunting. New Wii version of classic shooter playable!

 

IGN Wii has learned that Nintendo is planning to showcase a Wii sequel to its classic shooter series Duck Hunt at its E3 2006 booth on Wednesday. The title will be playable. No other details about the project have yet been revealed, but we will of course serve up a full hands-on impressions when the time is right.

 

Duck Hunt arms players with a virtual shotgun and lets them blast away at a series of flying ducks. Given the precision aiming needed in the classic title, which worked with a light gun, it is all but certain that the Wii-mote wil act as the weapon this time around.

E3 2006: Super Mario Galaxy Playable

Have four words ever been sweeter? Details inside.

 

IGN has learned that Nintendo's potential flagship Wii game, Super Mario Galaxy, will be playable at the the company's E3 2006 booth beginning Wednesday morning. It is not yet known if the game will be open to all showgoers or if it will alternatively be tucked away behind closed doors.

 

Super Mario Galaxy promises improved graphics, a compelling new theme involving the universe, and a wide variety of enhanced platformer mechanics -- all made possible with the added power and new controller of Wii.

 

IGN will be playing Super Mario Galaxy on Wednesday. Look out for our full impressions.

E3 2006: 10 Minutes with ExciteTruck

 

We flip the Wii-mote on its side and hit the dirt. Hands-on impressions inside.

- ExciteTruck is, in fact, a lot like Excitebike - except you race monster trucks and not dirt bikes.

 

-The project comes from Nintendo newcomer Monster Games, which has in the past worked almost exclusively on NASCAR and Test Drive titles so apparently it has some experience with the genre, if not the franchise.

 

-ExciteTruck is a fun little racer with a lot of compelling play mechanics

 

-The title utilizes the Wii-mote and not the nunchuck attachment. You simply turn the pointer on its side and use its tilt functionality for four degrees of movement. The B button functions as gas and the A as brake. As you race your monster truck over mountainous tracks, you can turn left or right simply by tilting the controller in the respective directions

 

-The game moves at a really fast pace - much quicker than Excitebike 64

 

-Boosts in ExciteTruck are intuitively handled when you're in the air by tapping any direction on the Wii-mote's D-Pad.

 

-the terrain around you dynamically shifts up and down to create new jumps and barriers. It's a very dramatic effect, actually, because in an instant a flatland can change into a fairly sizeable mountain - and right before your eyes.

 

-the changing landscapes can seriously malfunction your AI-controlled competitors and you can take advantage of their missteps. As a result, ExciteTruck presents racing environments complete with a fair amount of strategy.

 

-The trucks themselves don't take damage and you can't stray too far off of the course, but the levels are still large and varied

 

-Nintendo demoed two different levels.

 

-The trucks move about the levels with a solid sense of weight and physics and although you won't find extra graphical bells and whistles like detailed particle mud, many of the backgrounds look like something befitting of an Xbox racer, which isn't a criticism.

 

-found ExciteTruck to be immediately accessible and surprisingly entertaining, even if its premise is straightforward and its control method relatively simple. Using the Wii-mote to move tilt and turn about levels is easily performed and feels downright natural.

 

-As far as the graphics are concerned, Excite Truck may turn out to be one of the better looking titles on the Wii console. You will immediately notice that in the trailer the game traverses multiple environments, such as ocean-side and snow. Although the background is not as crowded as a title like Gran Turismo, the smooth tracks with appropriate backdrops for the locales work perfectly for the title. Other graphical details you may notice are the incredible draw distances, which can be noticed when propelling off large jumps, and the motion blur, used much like Burnout, when using your turbo.

 

-had some concerns about whether or not driving games would work with the Wii remote. Not anymore. ExciteTruck feels great and I'm having a lot of fun."
