CNN Says No Revolution Launch Date/Price At E3, but Final Name Announced

By Chris Morris Director of Content Development for CNNMoney.com

"Similarly, donʼt expect Nintendo to announce the Revolutionʼs launch date or price, although we will learn the final name of the system. Weʼll also get a good idea of the launch lineup, which (if Nintendo sticks to the pattern of the past several E3s) will be playable on the show floor.

Nintendo will also likely announce more additional partners for its Virtual Console system (an online service that will allow users to download hundreds of games from previous Nintendo game machines, the Sega Genesis and the TurboGrafx gaming system). The company also has promised to reveal the final secret of the Revolution, though itʼs anyoneʼs guess what that might be."

More Talk Of Revmote Force Feedback

European November Launch?

According to our sources close to Nintendo, Nunchaku Pad which we had been able to see at the time of Tokyo Game Show 2005 should profit from a very new gyroscopic technology. Our source us was thus explained: "When you receive a shock, you feel the pad to force in your hand. A little like Powerball... ".

Moreover, several rumours had already evoked this information.

Always according to our sources, Nintendo would have communicated to the European editors a date of exit for its console: it would be on November 30 which the Revolution would arrive on the European market. On the other hand, our source specifies us that this date is not yet final and that it could change well. The official response at the time of the conference of Nintendo to E3.

Sadness Screenplay Over 900 Pages And 40 Hours Minimum Gameplay!

Post του Project Manager της Nibris στο forum της Crossbeam:

"My name is Piotr Or³owski and I am project Manager of Nibris.

Best Regards for all Crossbeam fans and workers.

We are still in contact with Greg and I hope that it will be great cooperation between this two indie developers :

About Sadness. If you want to finish Sadness you have to play minimum 40 hours. This game is really big! When we are creating that horror, we want creating new trends, become somenthing real new. Writing history, we refer from anybody refers before, we trying to fing new sollutions. Border between good and evil is quite thin. Diffrents are subjective. At start I can say, action is situated at beginning of XX century, in a city, what was very important for culture of Central Europe (which I cant tell you for this moment). Screenplay of Sadness count 900 pages! At E3 we will (I hope) show Raid over the River. At the end of April (if we get perrmision) we will show first screen from Sadness."

Νunchuck Αttachment Having Motion Sensing

AMN is reporting that the rumors of the Revmoteʼs nunchuck attachment having some sort of motion sensing aspect involved are indeed true. They say that they have talked to a "developer incredibly close to Nintendo" who has confirmed these rumors as true. AMN goes on to say that while the nunchuck attachment will indeed sense motion, it will not be as detailed as the Revmote. It looks as if this may be the final secret Nintendo has been holding on to for quite some time. Regardless of all these confirmations, everything involved in the story will stay a rumor until Nintendoʼs media briefing on May 9th.

Sega Rolls Out Super Monkey Ball for Revolution

Sega announced in a press release today that Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz, the next chapter in the popular Monkey Ball action puzzle franchise, is in production for Nintendo's next-generation console, code-named Revolution.

"The Nintendo Revolution presents a totally unique avenue for our developers to explore the art of game design," said Scott A. Steinberg, Vice President of Marketing at Sega of America. "Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz will present a mind-boggling array of gameplay innovations that will excite and challenge gamers while pushing the boundaries of imagination forward."

As a first for the franchise, Banana Blitz will offer players the ability to jump by flicking the motion-sensing controller in an upward direction, allowing for more unique challenges in the game's single-player puzzles. Sega also revealed that Banana Blitz will offer an abundance of the series' hallmark multiplayer mini-games, more than any other Monkey Ball title released to date. All the mini-games are being designed to exploit Nintendo's new controller in some form, with ring toss and Whack-a-Mole used as examples of mini-games that will benefit from the variety of immersive gameplay methods that are possible.

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz, as well as the platformer title Super Monkey Ball Adventure for GameCube, will be presented at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo.

Nunchuck Contains Accelerometer

According to the Advanced Media Network, the Revolution's nunchuck analog attachment contains an accelerometer, a device used to measure acceleration.

A source apparently close to Nintendo relayed this information to AMN, also noting that Revolution SDKs have possessed this secondary functionality since the unnamed developer received the kits more than six months ago. However, the source mentioned that the nunchuck does not incorporate the same pointing and motion-sensing capabilities of the Revolution's free-hand unit.

As an example, in a first-person shooter the free-hand unit would be used to look and aim, the analog stick would be used to move/strafe, while the accelerometer in the nunchuck would allow for reloading by titling the device to the right or left.

During December 2005, Game Designer Shigeru Miyamoto mentioned there was another secret to Revolution. Nintendo of America's Senior Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Communications George Harrison clarified in an interview with Game Informer magazine "that there's maybe more than one secret," and "there will be new things revealed at E3."

Although Nintendo has remained mum about any final secrets to Revolution, AMN stated, "it's odd that developers have had access to the feature and information all along, without ever being told to keep the information under wraps." Whether or not the nunchuck's accelerometer relates to one of the secrets Nintendo executives referred to is unknown at this time, but the company will likely have more to say on the matter at E3 in May.

Castlevania Producer Not Yet Working on Nintendo Revolution?

In the latest issue of Nintendo Power (June 2006), Castlevania Producer Koji Igarashi cited his thoughts regarding Nintendo's next-generation console, code-named Revolution.

"I can't say that I'm working on Revolution. I'm really busy with the DS game right now," Igarashi said. "I really like the controller, though, so if the time allows and if Revolution is well-received, then I would love to work on it."

Back in September, Igarashi confirmed that Konami was preparing Castlevania for the next generation of game consoles, though he did not state which platforms might play host to new entries in the 20-year-old series. Konami has not released its E3 product line-up yet, so it cannot be determined at this time if the company will choose to display a next-generation Castlevania in some form at the show.

Odama Creator Developing for Nintendo Revolution?

In the latest issue of Nintendo Power magazine (June 2006), Odama and Seaman Creator Yoot Saito hinted at developing for Nintendo's next-generation console, code-named Revolution.

When asked how he might use the Revolution controller, Saito responded, "Oh yes, I have many things to say about this. But I just can't comment right now. You know: confidentiality agreements and all. But wait for my next title. I swear that I'll create something you're going to like. And I look foward to sitting down with you to discuss it at length when the time comes!"

Saito is well-known for his rather abstract game creations, such as Seaman for the Dreamcast, which involved players communicating with a virtual human-faced fish that provided feedback on the person's life and schedule. Saito's latest title Odama, exclusive to Nintendo GameCube, combines elements from the pinball and real-time strategy genres, encapsulates said elements in feudal Japan, and even utilizes the GameCube's microphone and bongo peripherals for commanding troops.

Nintendo Revolution : Nintendo Employee Spilling Some EXCLUSIVE Beans?

I have a new source for info that, by chance, happens to be a Nintendo employee. I promise to you that they are employed by Nintendo. That said, I am to keep the rest of the details about my recent affiliate confidential, so as to keep the individual anonymous.

So, what's that little disclaimer leading up to? Some pretty hefty revelations, if true. I'll say again that there's no question about the individual's authenticity as a Nintendo employee. The information that they've relayed to me is what they've heard in discussions from other Nintendo employees above them. They did not say that this was all set in stone, but rather that the latest release time frames they've heard, go something like this:

-The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess will be released on the same day as Revolution, with both the GC and Rev content on the same disk. Furthermore, the title will be available in both a $50 (USD) version or $60 premium ("Gold") version, which will contain artwork and other materials, but no additions to the game.

-The DS Lite will be released with The NEW Super Mario Bros. This is where I'll know if my sourse has heard truth or is just spouting off some random possibilities being thrown around the company, because they stated that you will only be able to pre-order the new handheld for one week before it's available to North American gamers. That said, be looking forward to this news being revealed at Nintendo's pre-E3 press conference.

-Finally, and biggest of all, the individual said, and I quote, "Lets just say September will be a REVOLUTIONARY month!" Upon my jaw hitting the floor, and a few choice words of excitement, they elaborated to not expect it until the end of September, but that the odds of it coming out at that time are looking promising. As long as everything goes according to plan, meaning Nintendo's suppliers and the Revolution's manufacturing plant(s) don't meet any hurdles, that's when we'll all be able to camp out for it. However, don't expect to hear this at E3, seeing as how Nintendo doesn't want to commit until everything is garunteed, so look for this announcement, to come some time around "Oh, how about August ."

Update: I forgot to mention one last thing. My source told me that George Harrison, when stating that there could be twenty games for launch, was saying this with the thought that it would come in September. If it is instead held back to October, there could be twenty five to thirty titles ready to go.

Well, maybe two last things. The September launch is depenedent on all the big software (another reason they don't want to give us a release date until they are certain the games will be ready). So, if big games like Red Steel, Smash Bros, and whatever else they're planning need a couple more weeks for fine tuning, they will hold off on the release. They want the launch to be huge, which means having every game there to give players a wide selection covering most, if not all, genres and ratings.

Tecmo Golf Title Going Offline

In the latest issue of Famitsu magazine, Tecmo Producer Keisuke Kikuchi disclosed a few details about Skatto Golf Pangya Revolution (working title), the company's first game for Nintendo's next-generation console, code-named Revolution.

According to Kikuchi - who is known for his work on the Fatal Frame series - Tecmo is approaching the Revolution title as an original outing rather than a direct port of the PC version. The team's goals with Skatto Golf Pangya Revolution is to create enjoyment from moving the controller to play the game, provide a better defined world over the PC version, and allow players freedom in time dedication to extend replayability.

Tecmo is also planning new content for the Revolution version in the form of multiple characters with individual storylines and costumes, among other things.

Regarding control schemes, players will enjoy moving their bodies to play the game, according to Kikuchi. In addition to utilizing the motion-sensing capabilities of the Revolution controller, a fully button-based input system will be employed for precise controls.

Kikuchi also revealed to Famitsu that although an extensive online component helped define the PC title's MMO (massively-multiplayer online) status, the Revolution version will be mostly an offline affair, with downloable content being considered. Though the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection may be employed in some capacity for the game, the development team seems focused on scaling back the online aspect to form a balance with the single player.

Skatto Golf Pangya Revolution is currently a Japan-only title set to release on Revolution later this year. Tecmo has not stated if the game would be shown at E3 in May.

Παρ'όλο που η ΕΑ δεν είπε και πολλά καλά για το Revo έχουμε και λέμε:

EA brings Madden to Revolution

EA Canada QB details popular pigskin franchise's debut for Nintendo's new console; with new controller, popular football series won't be just about pushing buttons. Exec says EA Rev games won't be straight ports.

---The ever-popular Madden franchise gets the call for Nintendo's next-gen console, and is tentatively titled Madden Revolution. It's important to note that the game isn't simply titled Madden NFL 2007 for the Revolution--that's because no gamer has seen a Madden quite like this one.

--The game is being handled north of the border, by a special Revolution-focused development group within EA's Burnaby, British Columbia studio.

--The gameplay will make extensive use of the Revolution controller's motion-sensing capabilities.

Interview parts:

--We've built Madden for the Revolution. It fully maximizes the [Revolution's controller] to play Madden like never before. It's pretty cool. It's going to take you through a passing drill, a kicking drill… it's going to immerse you in the game.

--To us, what is so great about the Revolution is the uniqueness in control and the new experience it's going to bring consumers. Happily, we've got proven Madden artificial intelligence and physics that are stunning, so we've got a great game of football

--what we're really proud of is we've truly taken a revolutionary approach to making this game specifically and just for the Revolution.

--I think Madden Revolution is unique and would complement any version of Madden as well as stand on its own. What's neat about it is we've taken a different approach with the Revolution than we have in the past.

So Madden Revolution will be very different from any other version of Madden you play. It'll be tailored just for the Revolution, which means we're spending a majority of our time making the control, which is very unique and different...specific for that machine.

--I can tell you that we're working on titles other than just Madden right now and we're not unveiling those just yet. I think you'll see continued support for Revolution and you'll see EA continue to bring innovative titles that maximize the power of the machine. What's important to us is we've recognized the uniqueness of the Rev and how innovative it is

--I don't think Revolution consumers want straight ports. We want to bring out games that are great for the Revolution. And that's what we're trying to do.

--I think users expect some of our core, big franchises to be on Revolution and we understand that. I think you'll see EA support the Revolution with our strong franchises, but at the same time it's such a unique machine with a unique controller that it certainly gives us opportunity to think about doing new things and specific games just for that platform. At the same time, we have such a wealth of franchises that to me what's kind of cool is when you think about taking a franchise like Madden and doing that on Revolution--while people have played football games before, they've never played Madden this way. Yes, you've seen a football game before, but you've never seen anything like this before.

--I can tell you that the Tiburon guys came up today and they played Madden on the Revolution. They had been spending some time with our group but hadn't gotten hands-on with [the game] until today. They couldn't get the controller quick enough and said, "Don't tell me anything! Let me do it myself!" They loved it. It was great. They weren't expecting it to be as unique and original.
