panther_512 Δημοσ. 30 Ιανουαρίου 2006 Δημοσ. 30 Ιανουαρίου 2006 3D Realms CEO on Revolution Believes it will be a distant third to 360 and PS3; Nintendo's last console. Outspoken 3D Realms CEO Scott Miller has recently updated his official blog to wax about the upcoming next generation console wars. In his writings, the industry veteran makes his predictions about the eventual popularity of the three major consoles, including Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Revolution. "My prediction for this new round of consoles is that the Xbox 360 and PS3 will wind up about equal in terms of sales, with Nintendo's Revolution coming in a distant third," Miller writes. "Perhaps this will be the last console from [Nintendo]." Miller, whose studio has been underway with a Duke Nukem sequel since the Big Bang, admits that he has not yet played with the revolutionary aspect of Nintendo's new console. "I cannot comment on the Revolution's controller until I try one," he states. http://revolution.ign.com/articles/683/683176p1.html

Μιά ακόμα επιβεβαίωση για αυτούς που νομίζουν ότι η μεγάλη Ν πεθαίνει. Nintendo reported today a sharply increased fiscal third-quarter profit and continued to affirm its estimated profit for the fiscal year, though analysts expect that the company will increase its earnings outlook in the near future. According to the company's financial statements -- which are computed under Japanese generally accepted accounting principles -- the consolidated net profit for October-December rose to ¥55.56 billion ($479.7 million) as compared to ¥21.3 billion for the same period last year. For the nine months ending December 31st, the company posted a net profit of ¥92.2 billion ($801 million) up from ¥67.8 billion for the same time frame in the previous fiscal year, a 36% increase. Nintendo reaffirmed its previous guidance that the company would book a profit for the full fiscal year ending in March of ¥75 billion ($652 million) based on ¥500 billion ($4.3 billion) in sales. Takashi Oya, a Tokyo-based game analyst with Deutsche Securities, stated that he believes that there is "no question" that Nintendo will revise its full-year forecast based on its most recent earnings report. http://revolution.ign.com/articles/683/683718p1.html

panther_512 Δημοσ. 7 Φεβρουαρίου 2006 Δημοσ. 7 Φεβρουαρίου 2006 Revolution Details at GDC? Iwata could shed some light on the enigmatic Revolution. Along with the Loch Ness Monster and Big Foot, one of the big mysteries facing mankind right now involves the exact details of Nintendo's upcoming Revolution console. Very few details -- other than the unique controller -- have emerged about Nintendo's next-generation offering. However, this silence might soon be lifted as Nintendo's President Satoru Iwata may reveal details about the Revolution at the upcoming Game Developers Conference (GDC), according to a report at MCVUK.com. According to the report, senior sources at Nintendo have intimated that Iwata will make "key announcements" during the conference with speculation centering on pricing and release details. The GDC conference runs from March 20-24 in San Jose, California. While all this is still specualation at this point, it wouldn't be surprising for Nintendo to make an announcement of some sort prior to E3 in order to build excitement for the still-mysterious Revolution. That said, IGN Revolution has heard from sources close to Nintendo that the company will not go all out with Revolution information prior to E3 2006. More likely, say insiders, the company will speak specifically to developers about the potential of Revolution at GDC and keep secrets about pricing and release date info closely guarded. http://revolution.ign.com/articles/685/685830p1.html
panther_512 Δημοσ. 7 Φεβρουαρίου 2006 Δημοσ. 7 Φεβρουαρίου 2006 Activision Ready for Revolution The company's CEO says it'll have at least one Revolution game ready in the system's first four months. In its fiscal 2006 conference call this afternoon, Activision confirmed that it is under development with and will have at least one game ready in the first four months of Nintendo's next generation console, codenamed Revolution. The publisher's CEO and chairman, Robert Kotick, said that the game would arrive in Activision's fiscal 2007, which ranges from April 2006 to March 2007. This could very well mean that the game will be a Revolution launch title, although the executive would not elaborate on a hard release date for the still-unspecified project. IGN Revolution is able to confirm that Activision readied a Revolution development team as far back as October of 2005, giving it ample time to work on the still-secret game. The company has a host of big-name licenses to draw from, including inevitable sequels in the Spider-Man, Tony Hawk, and Call of Duty franchises. The Revolution game in question could fall under one of these brands. However, it might also be a completely new IP catered specifically for Nintendo's innovative controller and platform. http://revolution.ign.com/articles/686/686046p1.html
panther_512 Δημοσ. 7 Φεβρουαρίου 2006 Δημοσ. 7 Φεβρουαρίου 2006 New Nintendo Revolution game revealed The latest Revolution Game had been revealed. panther_512 Δημοσ. 7 Φεβρουαρίου 2006 Δημοσ. 7 Φεβρουαρίου 2006 Creator Of Halo Wants To Work On Nintendo Revolution Father of Halo intrigued at thought of a FPS on Nintendo Revolution. The father of the Halo series, Jason Jones, is extremely interested in working on the Nintendo Revolution, according to the latest issue of EGM. This hasn't been made public it seems because Microsoft has kept the interview hidden from the public. In the interview Mr. Jones talks about a FPS on the system and some of the great ideas he had for it. This definitely says something about the possibilities of a FPS on the Revolution if the father of Halo is even intrigued by the thought of it. This certainly will not make Microsoft happy. It is bad enough that they are receiving quite a bit of bad publicity after the Xbox 360 launch, now they have their biggest developer, of their biggest franchise, talking about possibilities of games on other systems. I'm sure nothing will come out of this, but it is quite interesting to hear in the grand scheme of things. http://www.nintendorevolution.ca/02062006/22/creator_of_halo_wants_to_work_on_nintendo_revolution?PHPSESSID=af015637c2ad8626448f6cb346ace086
xrest Δημοσ. 10 Φεβρουαρίου 2006 Δημοσ. 10 Φεβρουαρίου 2006 Images from a Nintendo graduate recruitment booklet have appeared on the net and they include some pictures of the development process used by Nintendo in order to create Revolution. The images, leaked in a U.K. forum, appear authentic and if fraudsters are involved they would have to be extremely able and have a lot of free time on their hands to create such an elaborate hoax. Shown in the booklet, are images of the design steps taken while creating the Nintendo controller for Revolution while we also get a glimpse at how artists sketch the characters that later make it into Nintendo games. The most important news to come out of the booklet has top do with the first official glimpse at the Revolution's derriere which seems to have excited fans of the console even though it reveals nothing surprising or unique. Revolution will have a rather dull behind with the expected USB, display, power and fan ports. This is really not the exciting news that Nintendo fans would have expected so close to the suggested launch of the console but knowing that Sony may delay its PS3 launch may give its Japanese rivals some ideas for delays of their own. We are all hoping that the Taipei game show next week may bring some new information on the launch plans of the two Japanese rivals. http://www.megagames.com/news/html/console/revolutionrearrevealed.shtml
xrest Δημοσ. 14 Φεβρουαρίου 2006 Δημοσ. 14 Φεβρουαρίου 2006 New Revolution Project Announced From the developer of Pac-Man World 3. Big-name publisher involved Blitz Games today announced that it has signed a deal with a major publisher to make a title for Nintendo's next generation console, codenamed Revolution. The developer, best known for projects including Glover for N64 and Pac-Man World 3 for GameCube, stated that further details about the game will be announced by the still-secret publisher "soon." Andrew Oliver, co-founder and development director of Blitz Games, commented, "We're genuinely very excited to be working on the Revolution. Nintendo's innovation over the years has trail blazed new concepts and the new controller is no exception. It will give people new ways to play existing genres but moreover we hope it will spawn altogether new gaming experiences." Philip Oliver, CEO Blitz Games, added, "This latest addition to our portfolio clearly signals that Blitz is one of the few major developers with the capability and technology to work on both next and current generation titles simultaneously. Our strategy of a fully featured, well structured tool chain and cross platform engine has really paid off and we are quickly able to incorporate these new platforms with relative ease making our development faster and more efficient." Blitz Games employs more than 150 people and is currently underway with Possession, a third person title for Xbox 360 that enables players to control hundreds of bloodthirsty zombies in a free-roaming city. A spokesperson for Blitz Games confirmed to IGN that the developer's Revolution title is not Possessed, but something entirely new. http://revolution.ign.com/articles/688/688271p1.html
panther_512 Δημοσ. 15 Φεβρουαρίου 2006 Δημοσ. 15 Φεβρουαρίου 2006 Revolution's Back Panel Will GameCube's component cable work with Revolution? The possibility remains. A Nintendo patent filed with the Office of the European Union's Trademark and Designs branch offers up the first official sketches of Revolution's back panel. While the next generation system itself may change before it is shown in playable form at E3 2006 this May, there is also the chance that the sketches represent an accurate illustration of the Big N's future platform. We've all seen the console before in official photos and videos, but few of us have been witness to the make-up of its back panel. As a result, Nintendo fans have continuously wondered if Revolution would feature a component output and an audio output or some kind of new proprietary configuration. If these latest sketches are accurate, GameCube's component cable may be compatible. Why? Take a look at the official patent sketch we've provided below. The back of the Revolution unit looks very similar to that of a GameCube. We can clearly see a power port located to the left and directly next to it a component video output. This output is exactly the same as the one on GameCube, which suggests that Revolution might support the current cable. However, there remains a mystery item on the back of the unit - we've pointed it out with question marks -- and it could change everything. This slot could be designed for audio out, in which case the GCN cable really would be compatible. However, if the slot is not audio related - it could very well merely be a ventilation hole - then Nintendo's next generation console would require a proprietary new wire to simultaneously handle both component video and audio out. http://revolution.ign.com/articles/688/688570p1.html
