panther_512 Δημοσ. 16 Δεκεμβρίου 2005 Δημοσ. 16 Δεκεμβρίου 2005 Revolution Demo Tour Continues Nintendo Speaks Out December 15, 2005 - Anyone keeping up with the news over the last few months is starting to see a trend develop. Nintendo has been taking their demo across the nation and putting it in the hands of VIP's for a first run-through. We here at IGN had a chance to send our VIP and resident Pretty-Boy Fran Maribella to the Tokyo Game Show earlier this year for a first hand look at the mystery behind the Revolution. Nintendo continues their tour even as we speak, and the latest recipient of hands-on play, Chris Morris for CNN-Money, had a chance to take a swing (literally?) at Revolution gameplay in New York. Along with hands on time Nintendo also offered a few more quotes for all you boarders out there looking to fill your Signatures. Overall the company feels very optimistic, and little by little the secrets are unveiled: Satoru Iwata: Nintendo President On Control: "I was a developer for many years before my current role, but I've never been a very good gamer. I've never been able to control a first-person shooter, but as soon as I used the Revolution controller, I found it very easy to control the game. So, I think that's a genre that's particularly well suited for the controller." On Marketing: "It's going to be a challenge to take something that's a new concept and new idea and convey to the public…how to understand it, but honestly I think the revolution controller is going ot be a lot easier to convey to the public than the DS was as a system. We've learned a lot in terms of how to communicate to people these new and different ideas and because of the experience we had with the DS, we're much more prepared." On Setting the Standard: "Until now, within a single household, we've had family members who play video games and family members who don't play video games - and they've been very separate," said Iwata. "Gradually, the barriers between those two have gotten stronger. ... Today, if you don't understand the controller, you're not able to enjoy video games. ... We expect the Revolution controller to become the standard in video game controls." Reggie Fils-Aime: VP of Sales/Marketing. (Also #1 Contender for World Heavyweight Title) On On-line Play: "I hope massively multiplayer online games are really explored on this system. That's a genre, from the home console standpoint, that really hasn't been explored very well." On the Future: "It's fair to say that we have a number of things that we will begin unveiling all next year, leading up to E3." http://revolution.ign.com/articles/676/676165p1.html
panther_512 Δημοσ. 16 Δεκεμβρίου 2005 Δημοσ. 16 Δεκεμβρίου 2005 Nintendo: “Easy to port” onto Revolution Despite alleged Revolution specs released by IGN, Nintendo says it will be “easy to port” third-party games onto the company’s next-generation console. 1up writes: “Even though Revolution won’t have the same memory bandwidth as Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the familiarity with current generation development and tools that Revolution takes advantage of means most companies shouldn’t have much trouble working Revolution into the mix.” Will the graphics be comparable? Nintendo says graphics will be on par with the 360 and PS3, but some developers are calling the system a souped up Xbox. Regardless, graphical limitations haven’t stopped multi-platform ports in the past. Now if we can only figure out how that darn controller shell will work. http://www.joystiq.com/entry/1234000147071654/
orionas Δημοσ. 17 Δεκεμβρίου 2005 Δημοσ. 17 Δεκεμβρίου 2005 News: Reggie & Iwata Talk Revolution Posted by Tphi - Dec 16th 2005 11:59 We've got some new quotes from Nintendo President Satoru Iwata and VP of Sales/Marketing Reggie Fils-Aime on the Revolution... Despite being a developer for many years before being Nintendo's President, Iwata has said that he was never a very good gamer when it came to first-person shooters. "I've never been able to control a first-person shooter," he says, "but as soon as I used the Revolution controller, I found it very easy to control the game. So, I think that's a genre that's particularly well suited for the controller." On marketing, he said that Revolution would be a challenge to introduce as it's a new concept and idea, but he feels that "the revolution controller is going to be a lot easier to convey to the public than the DS was as a system. We've learned a lot in terms of how to communicate to people these new and different ideas and because of the experience we had with the DS, we're much more prepared." He also said he was glad it would help families play games together, as in the past there have been set stereotypes of who would play games and who wouldn't. "Gradually, the barriers between those two have gotten stronger. Today, if you don't understand the controller, you're not able to enjoy video games. We expect the Revolution controller to become the standard in video game controls." Meanwhile, talking on what games he'd like to see on the Revolution, Reggie said, somewhat suprisingly, he hoped "massively multiplayer online games are really explored on this system. That's a genre, from the home console standpoint, that really hasn't been explored very well." And speaking on the future, he closed with a typically cryptical hint. "It's fair to say that we have a number of things that we will begin unveiling all next year, leading up to E3." Until then, stick with R-E for your daily dose of Nintendo news! Source: IGN

According to Reggie, Sega is intrigued by the Nintendo Revolution's "backwards compatibility," however he stopped just short of a confirmation that classic Sega games will be included. He also stated that the Classic Controller expansion for the Revolution's controller will look similar to the GameCube's Wavebird. Although this news isn't the "surprise" everyone is waiting for, the ability to play classic Sega games would without a doubt, be a huge addition to the Nintendo Revolution. http://www.nintendojo.com/infocus/view_item.php?1135058230

iSpO_fAcTo Δημοσ. 23 Δεκεμβρίου 2005 Δημοσ. 23 Δεκεμβρίου 2005 Zelda: Twilight Princess to Have Revolution Functionality In the latest issue of the United Kingdom-based NGC magazine, information concerning the connection between Nintendo GameCube title The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and the Nintendo Revolution was revealed. According to the magazine, "Twilight Princess will be playable on the forthcoming Revolution using the upcoming consoleʼs unique controller. Zelda will actually 'bring in' the Revolution by launching fairly close to the new system, which is set to be released around November of next year, according to [NGC's] sources." Continuing, NGC stated, "Twilight Princess will still be released on GameCube - there's no denying that fact. However, when you insert the disc into your Revolution, you'll be given the option to use the Revolution's controller, with all of the advantages that this will bring." In regards to the cited release dates, NGC mentioned that while it doesn't "know the exact day, it seems that [Revolution] will likely arrive in the UK in November, just in time for Christmas," with Twilight Princess arriving some time prior. Nintendo of America's Executive Vice President of Marketing and Sales Reggie Fils-Aime confirmed some time ago that Twilight Princess would be arriving on GameCube in North America during April of 2006, so there's a possibility that the Nintendo Revolution might launch in other territories prior to Christmas 2006, if Jim Merrick's statements of a global launch are to be believed.
