Reggie: Nintendo Can Be Market Leader

 

NOA's president believes that Wii can return the company to the number-one spot.

 

In a recent interview with ABC On Demand, Nintendo of America's president, Reggie Fils-Aime, indicated that the videogame giant -- at one time the most successful home console maker in the world -- is with Wii gunning for the number-one position again.

 

Asked if Nintendo needed to beat out rivals Sony and Microsoft in order for Wii to become a success, Reggie commented: "We certainly want to and between the success we've had with the Nintendo DS in the handheld space and the success we see with the Wii, Nintendo can become the dominant player again in this industry. And certainly that's my focus.

 

"It's interesting, though. In order for me to win, must they fail? I don't think so. Because they're trying to do something very different. But our goal is to be the leader in this industry -- not only from an innovation standpoint, but also from a market share as well."

 

Unlike GameCube, which was very similar to PlayStation 2 and Xbox in features in capabilities, Wii is radically different from either PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360. At the core of this difference is an innovative new controller that translates 3D movement by the user into on-screen action. It is for this reason that Nintendo believes it can attract an audience normally uninterested in videogames and propel Wii to new heights of popularity.

Wii preorders going like crazy at Play.com

 

Play.com (UK) is celebrating their biggest/quickest reserved item in their site₼s history, and they have the Wii to thank. In just nine days, Play.com has received over 7000 preorders. Why is the Wii selling so quickly? Some say price point, some say Nintendo₼s name alone, but The Guardian newspaper simply says that “The Nintendo Wii is not like other games consoles,”. I couldn₼t agree more. Let₼s hope for another great preorder showing when GameStop/EB Games finalizes a date.

Διακρίνω ένα Actel FPGA.

 

FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Arrays).

 

Είναι φθηνή και αξιόπιστη λύση για πάρα πολλά κυκλώματα, αλλά χάνει από πλευράς ευελιξίας. Εφόσον προγραμματιστεί, αυτό ήταν.

 

Αν βάζαν έναν μικροελεγκτή, έναν AVR ρε παιδί μου, το χειριστήριο θα μπορούσε να κάνει τρελά πράγματα.......

 

Αλλά ένα Actel FPGA μπορεί να φτάσει τα 50 σέντ το κομμάτι, ενώ ο μικροελεγκτής περίπου 2 Ευρώ....

Ελπίζω το -σημαντικά- μεγαλύτερο κομμάτι του παιχνιδιού να είναι με κανονικό Link, και όχι με το λύκο και το άλλο περίεργο εξωγηινάκι (καλά μη κράζετε, δεν ξέρω πως το λένε ακόμα...).

 

Γενικά οι μεταμορφώσεις στο Majora's Mask (με εξαίρεση ίσως τον Goron Link) αλλά και σε άλλα παιχνίδια (πχ Prince of Persia) ποτέ δεν με ενθουσίασαν σαν ιδέα. Συμφωνείτε?
