Και εγώ πρέπει να αγοράσω καινούργια TV.

Daredevil Δημοσ. 23 Σεπτεμβρίου 2006 Δημοσ. 23 Σεπτεμβρίου 2006 Editor: Channels are the Wii's weak spot A Sci-Fi editor has voiced his opinion that the Wii's channels concept is a weak spot of the console. He slams the Mii channel, saying the only thing you can use this in is in Wii sports, next up he questions the usefulness of the other channels and asks who will really check the wheather on their Wii? He concludes it's a poor offering and suggests Nintendo took a move in the wrong direction. More Juicy Wii Development Details Revealed! Also feel free to check out the specifications of the Wii's hardware here. But Sony may not be worried about Microsoft, but rather about a strong Nintendo Wii in Japan, Chris Crotty of market research firm Isuppli suggests. And there may little reason for Sony to extend the price cut to the U.S. Wii Vs. PS3 reserves according Amazon.jp
kostacurtas Δημοσ. 23 Σεπτεμβρίου 2006 Δημοσ. 23 Σεπτεμβρίου 2006 Nintendo Wii: Biggest Online Spend Ever When Nintendo Wii launches in November (or December, depending on where you live), the amount of money Nintendo spends for online marketing will be the most ever for the company. "We're just in the final stages of putting our media plan together for Wii, but in terms of online our spend is way more than anything we've done before," said Robert Lowe, Nintendo's product manager for home consoles in an article inNew Media Age. "There will be three main channels through which we'll be communicate Wii - online, TV and sampling - and of the top line ad budget of £10m-£11m, leading up to the December launch, a large proportion is going online." The campaign will revolve around the slogan "Wii Move You" and plans to capitalize on Sony's recent decision to delay PlayStation 3 in Europe and other regions while reducing supply in others. The "Wii Move You" marketing machine will include promotions within the largest web portals. TV spots and ads on Lycos, Yahoo! and even MSN (take that, Xbox 360!), are all reported to be hot spots for Wii advertising. "Particularly over the launch week we'll completely take them over - you'll go online and see Wii everywhere," proclaimed Lowe.

panther_512 Δημοσ. 25 Σεπτεμβρίου 2006 Δημοσ. 25 Σεπτεμβρίου 2006 Dolby Verifies Pro Logic II Dolby Laboratories, Inc. confirmed that Wii will use Dolby Pro Logic II technology. The technology, previously used in the GameCube, allows for two-channel stereo sound to be split in order to produce a pseudo surround-sound audio experience through a traditional five-speaker home theater setup. "The Wii console will break down the walls that separate gamers from everyone else," says Koji Kondo, manager of the Sound Group of Nintendo's Entertainment Analysis and Development Division. "Sound is a key part of this equation and because Wii supports Dolby Pro Logic II surround sound technology, we think everyone can have a great audio experience." "Dolby Pro Logic II technology ensures that the Wii console can offer rich, immersive surround sound, which is essential to a great gaming experience," says John Griffin, marketing director for Dolby Laboratories games division. "We're looking forward to hearing how great Nintendo's games sound at launch." NA Launch: One Million Wii Investment Corporation Mackenzie Financial reported that, out of the 4 million Wii planned by the end of this year, North America will receive one quarter of the total shipment at launch. "We're looking at a million for North America at launch," said Ron Bertram, Nintendo of Canada's vice president and general manager. "When Sony came out [with the PlayStation 3 announcement], they said 300,000." (Note: it appears that the 300,000 number that Betram mentioned is incorrect: 400,000 PS3 consoles are planned for launch in North America, according to AP wire.) Nintendo announced last week that the company will launch their next-generation console, Wii, across the globe between mid-November and early December. Nintendo plans to launch first in North America on November 19, with the rest of the world receiving consoles in the first week of December. "If we get what we're supposed to get, this will be our most plentiful launch in the 15 years I've been at Nintendo. All signs are actually extremely positive," said Bertram. Shortly before Nintendo's worldwide launch announcement, President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Ken Kutaragi released a statement that Sony's Blu-ray technology suffered diode shortages in development. Sony reduced its global launch estimates from four million to one-two million, with 500,000 consoles at launch worldwide: 400,000 for North America and 100,000 for Japan. The console's European launch will be delayed until March 2006. Sony still intends to deliver six million PlayStation 3 consoles by the end of the fiscal year: March 31, 2007. Comparatively, Sony holds the record of the largest North American console launch with 500,000 PlayStation 2 units sold on October 26, 2000. The PlayStation 2 also suffered shortages due to hardware difficulties, graphics synthesizer hardware to be precise, in a backorder that lasted until 2001. "Obviously the earlier you go, the less product you have available," Bertram said. "Sony is trying to do what they're trying to do - they're trying to rule the entertainment universe with this very expensive [PlayStation 3] machine. And we're just trying to get more people playing video games and the people who are playing video games playing our system. We knew they were on the 17th but that really wasn't a big concern for us." The article can be found here. Sonic Producer Discusses Length, Design 70 single-player missions, 30 multiplayer games in one high-speed package! Speaking to gaming site GameKult, Sonic and the Secret Rings Producer Yojiro Ogawa disclosed a number of new details regarding the blue hedgehog's first Wii outing, such as play length and the team's decision to put the game on-rails. Sonic and the Secret Rings will follow Sonic's adventure through the storybook land of Arabia, as he's the only playable character. According to Ogawa, the single-player game will span 70 different missions and take approximately 10 hours to complete. Additionally, bonus content and extra earnable medals will extend play time. A multiplayer mode comprised of 30 separate mini-games will also be available for up to four players. Furthermore, downloadable content is a possibility the team is exploring at this time. Ogawa mentioned that the team initially wanted Sonic for Wii to be similar to previous 3D outings in which players moved the character with the analog stick and used buttons to attack in addition to utilizing the Wii Remote's motion-sensing abilities. However, physical strain proved too troublesome with such a configuration, and the team simplified its ideas to create the control method for the current version (in which players hold the controller sideways to steer Sonic). The GameKult interview can be found here.
