Biohazard Umbrella Chronicles Revealed

Umbrella Corp invades the Wii!

In this week's Famitsu magazine, the publication revealed in their Wii section some mention about a new Biohazard game, entitled Biohazard: Umbrella Chronicles. Dubbed as an action game headed by Kawada Masachika, the man who was responsible for the PS2 port of Resident Evil 4, the game's story and characters have yet to be revealed, you can probably take a few guesses as to who's going to show up based on the title of the game.

The article reveals very little about the title, even to suggest that the game will somehow make use of the Wii's remote to manipulate your weapons. I suppose that's something. So far there has been little details about the game so far, and the screenshots that were included with Famitsu's preview make everything even more confusing; one screenshot depicts what seems like an old fashioned dining hall much like the one from the first Resident Evil game, as well as a door that's been blown to bits by some sort of weapon.

More information will most likely be available at the Tokyo Game Show next week, so keep checking back for updates soon!

Koei Brings New Titles to Wii

New RPG, horse racing and mahjong games!

Koei may have already announced Samurai Warriors Wave for the Wii, but it has a whole lot more than that in store for Nintendo's new system. The latest issue of Famitsu reveals that the company is working away at three additional titles: Mahjong Wii, New RPG and Horse Racing Action. All names are, of course, temporary.

Expect details to surface in the coming weeks.

First Tamagotchi Wii Details

Tamagotchi for... president?

The DS has had numerous million sellers in Japan, but only one of them originated from a third party. Bandai's Tamagotchi virtual pet is still big business, driving strong sales of Corner Shop and its sequel, and now the success is set to make it over to Wii. Bandai Namco will be bringing Tamagotchi no Pika Pkia Daityouryou! to the Wii for Japanese release some time this year.

The premise is a little different for this console entry. Set up as a board game, your goal is to get a large support rating and eventually become the president of Planet Tamagotchi. As you cross sections on the board, you earn ratings. The person with the highest ratings on voting day wins the election.

Where there's a board game, there's sure to be mini games. Specifics on the mini games haven't been revealed as yet, but expect heavy use of the Wiimote.

Details on Tamagotchi's Wii outing should follow in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!

Samurai Warriors Wave Details

First details on the Wii version.

Samurai Warriors Wave appeared out of nowhere on Koei's Tokyo Game Show exhibition list last week, but it wasn't until this week's Famitsu that we were given first details on the surprise Wii installment in the company's big Musou franchise.

Koei and Omega Force are taking the series in new directions thanks to the Wii-mote. Samurai Warriors Wave takes place primarily in the first person. You use the Wiimote directly to take out enemies with swords, guns and other weapons.

Of course, the historical drama for which the series is known returns in full force here. Players will be able to select from generals who've appeared in the series so far. Based on your choice of generals, your rival generals and the storyline will change.

Samurai Warriors Wave, or Sengoku Musou Wave as its known in Japan, is set for Japanese release some time this year, making it a Wii launch window title. A US release has yet to be announced.

Nintendo gets Wii ready for holidays, $250, North/South America on November 19th!

Seattlepi looks to have saved millions of eager Wii fans from hanging off every word at Nintendo's upcoming conferences. They report that the Wii WILL BE RELEASED on November 19th throughout South/North America and at a price of of $250. The Wii will also come with Wii SPORTS and games are expected to retail for an average of $50, 10 dollars less than the PS3 and Xbox 360 titles. Nintendo execs have also revealed that more than TWENTY FIVE titles will be available for the console by the end of the year. Some other noteworthy information includes four million Wii units will be shipped the end of the year, 30 classic games will be available at launch and it will have a photo channel as well as an interactive news and weather channel.

In a move that may allow Nintendo of Japan to take advantage of stumbles by its main rival, the company plans to announce today that it will release its new Wii video-game console in North and South America on Nov. 19, just as the holiday shopping season begins, and that the machine will cost $250 in the United States.

Nintendo executives said this week that the company also would announce today that more than 25 new games would be available for its video-game machine this year, a substantial portfolio from several genres that is intended to help the company broaden the appeal of its console. The company plans to ship 4 million of the Wii consoles worldwide this year.

Nintendo intends to announce today that every Wii will come with a game compilation called Wii Sports -- including tennis, golf, baseball and bowling -- meant to show off the machine's intuitive controls. (Most consoles, including Nintendo's GameCube, do not come with games included.)

Nintendo plans to announce that 25 to 30 top-tier games will be available for the Wii this year. The most-anticipated game comes from Nintendo itself: an installment of the long-running "Legend of Zelda" series, "Twilight Princess."

Nintendo also will deliver a driving game called "Excite Truck" this year but will likely provide a minor disappointment to gamers in saying the next version of the popular "Mario" franchise will not arrive until 2007.

Nintendo intends to charge $50 for its Wii games, $10 less than the standard price for Xbox 360 titles and the same price generally charged for GameCube games.

Nintendo plans to announce today that about 30 classic games will be available for download when the Wii is released, including ones from the "Zelda," "Mario" and "Donkey Kong" franchises. Downloadable games will cost about $5 to $10 each.

More broadly, Nintendo hopes to make the Wii a living-room centerpiece by including various media channels meant to appeal to and draw in people who do not consider themselves gamers.

There will be a photo channel that will allow users to use the Wii to display digital photographs on television.

There also will be an easy-to-use interactive news channel and weather channel.

Perhaps most intriguing, the Wii will make it possible to browse the Web on

the television.
