Κάτι σχετικό με το BR. Μήπως άκουσε κάποιος ότι σταμάτησαν οι εταιρείες να βγάζουν UMD ταινίες εξαιτίας της ανύπαρκτης αγοράς; Ακριβώς το ίδιο μπορεί να γίνει και στην περίπτωση του PS3. Αν δεν έχει κάθε νοικοκυριό standalone BR player τότε ενδέχεται η Sony να χάσει για τα καλά αυτή την μάχη αφού αν δεν βγάζουν ταινίες τότε το "μεγάλο" αυτό άλμα δεν θα γίνει ποτέ.

 

Τέλος ελπίζω να μην νομίζει κανείς ότι το BR θα φέρει την επανάσταση στο gaming έτσι; Γιατί τα περισσότερα παιχνίδια του θα έχουν το ίδιο content με τις εκδόσεις (xbox360,PC) ,απλά αντί για DVD (ή 2-3-X DVD's) θα βγαίνει σε BR format (βέβαια κόβω φουτσοκέφαλο ότι θα πεταχτεί κάποιος να πει ότι μέχρι και post processing effects θα προσφέρει το BR,είμαι σίγουρος ότι κάποιος θα πεταχτεί να την πετάξει )

Το umd δεν έχει ουσιαστικά αγορά ακόμα ... ελάχιστες είναι οι συσκευές που χρειάζονται κάποιο τέτοιο μέσο, και δεν τους κάνει το dvd λόγο μεγέθους .

(βασικά δεν μου έρχεται άλλη στο μυαλό, εκτός το psp και ίσως κανά palmtop ?)

 

Το BR έχει χρήση σε όλες τις HD τηλεοράσεις, αφού όλοι οι αγοραστές τους το χρειάζονται για να δουν μια ταινία όπως πραγματικά μπορεί να την δείξει η tv τους, και φυσικά θα πιάσει και στον κόσμο των pc, αφού μετά από 7-8 χρόνια ήρθε η ώρα να βγει κάτι καλύτερο από το dvd.

 

H επιτυχία του είναι σίγουρη δηλαδή... το θέμα είναι μόνο ο χρόνος.

Και το Xbox360 περιορίζετε από τώρα λόγο Dvd και το έχουν ρίξει στην συμπίεση ... οι δυνατότητες που σου δίνει ένα μεγάλο αποθηκευτικό μέσο και η πλήρης συνεργασία με τον σκληρό δίσκο είναι τεράστιες, και θα τις δούμε με το ps3 στην πράξη σιγά-σιγά.

(μην ξεχνάς το ps2 και το dreamcast που είχε cd … τότε πάλι κανείς δεν φανταζόταν ότι είναι σοβαρό πλεονέκτημα του ps2 , αλλά με τον καιρό άλλαζαν όλοι γνώμη)

There's no doubt that BD-ROM has more space than DVD9. There's also no doubt that several games that were once thought to be impossible to fit on DVD9 nonetheless fit (Oblivion being a good example). To get a sense of the real situation, consider existing game sizes. Original Xbox 360 titles, for example, used an average of 3.2GB per disc in 2005, up some 77 percent from 2001. Meanwhile, existing games on the Xbox 360 use slightly more space, with NBA Live 06 taking up 4.5GB, and Condemned: Criminal Origins taking 3.9GB. That is, they're roughly at half capacity. Furthermore, the argument that x times the resolution equals x times the data is without merit as an objective rule. There's an excellent article at GamesFirst dealing with this very topic. Our own coverage of procedural synthesis is highly recommended, as well.

 

In short, Blu-ray is not necessary for gaming in HD, if by necessary you mean anything approaching the dictionary's definition of the word. This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone used to playing games on a PC, either. PC gamers have been playing games at or very near "HD" resolutions for years (at least some of us have), and the console crossovers mostly consume very little space. Keep in mind that DVD9 discs can hold more than 10 CDs worth of content. Also keep in mind that the storage limitations of the Xbox 360 are likely to exercise a restraining effect on many PS3 crossover titles, as well.

 

Could there be games that pass over DVD9's limitations in this next generation? Perhaps, but they will be few and far between, most of them will be loaded with cinematic video (of dubious value), and nothing that could not be addressed by a download service in a pinch. Keep in mind that Xbox Live, for instance, hosts demo downloads sizing 800MB, and can serve them reliably well.

Είμαι σίγουρος ότι τα ίδια (μα ακριβώς τα ίδια!!!) θα έλεγαν και τον Μάρτιο του 1999 όταν είχε βγει το dreamcast με 650mb cd ...

 

Και τότε τα pc games δεν ήθελαν μεγάλο install, και όλοι φαντάζονταν ότι το cd ήταν υπέρ-αρκετό για κονσόλα .

(έψαξα λίγο στην gamespot και το μεγαλύτερο που βρήκα ήταν 550mb, ενώ τα περισσότερα ήταν από 70-400mb ... σίγουρα τα games του DC θα ήταν "roughly at half capacity" )

 

Φυσικά μετά από 2 χρόνια , και με "αποδοχή" του dvd τα πάντα είχαν αλλάξει ,τα μεγέθη είχαν εκτιναχτεί , και το cd σε κονσόλα είχε ξεπεραστεί εντελώς... κάτι ανάλογο θα γίνει φυσικά και τώρα .

Λογικά δεν νοιάζεται και πολύ η Microsoft , αφού μέχρι τότε θα βγάζει το επόμενο xbox, αλλά για την Sony που σκοπεύει να κρατήσει το ps3 5-6 χρόνια τουλάχιστον, το BR είναι παραπάνω από βασικό .

Το umd απετυχε οπως ολες οι μπανανες-νεα προτυπα της Sony

 

Το BR ουδεμια σχεση με gaming θα εχει,απλα θελει η Sony να χρησιμοποιησει (κατ'εμέ να κάψει) το ps3 για να το προωθησει το νεο αυτο προτυπο.

 

Με τραγικο και αναποφευκτο αποτελεσμα να θαψει και το ps3.Εξάλλου το ps3 δεν εχει κατι αλλο να δειξει σε σχεση με τον ανταγωνισμο ουτε σε επιδοσεις(σε σχεση με το 360),ουτε σε τιμη (+250 με +300 σε σχεση με το 360 και +400 με +500 με το Wii) ουτε καν σε innovation(σε σχεση με το Wii).

 

Οποιο λενε για οτι η ζοριζεται το 360 απο τη συμπιεση και λοιπα μαλλον δεν εχουν ιδεα απο προγραμματισμο.Ας ασχοληθουν με το πλεξιμο καλυτερα.

Nintendo, Spore, and Gears of War are the critics' favorites.
