BREAKING NEWS:

 

Microsoft's former employee , who wishes to remain anonymus, reports that he has 100% confirmed information about the delay of Sony's PS3.

 

"PS3 is not going to be released before May 2014. Serious design flaws on the ON/OFF switch forces Sony to begin from scratch. In more detail, the design team, in an attempt to implement next-gen technology in PS3's hardware, forgot to put an appropiate ON/OFF switch. Due to the lack of space, it's impossible to correct the mistake without re-designing the whole console.

Sony has fired the design team, along with the president, vice president and the cleaning lady, in order to recruit new staff to boost the corrections."

 

This 100% confirmed information puts Sony third in the console race, as noone knows for sure how Sony is going to overcome these serious problems.

 

Microsoft's former employee adds:

" I know that what I say may seem impossible to some people, but unfortunately it is true. I dreamed all of these last night after 2 tekilas and 14 beers. And my dreams are never wrong....."

PS3 costs drive Sony's Q2 profit downwards

 

Electronics giant Sony has seen a 46 per cent slump in its profit for the three months ended September 30th, with the enormous cost of developing the PlayStation 3 console fingered as a key factor in the decline.

 

The firm reported net income of 28.5 billion Yen (204 million Euro) for the quarter, which is down massively from the 53.2 billion Yen (380 million Euro) figure reported in the same period last year, and also falls below analyst average estimates of 30 billion yen (214 million Euro) reported by Bloomberg.

κατι παρομοιο με το XBOX LIVE θα φτιαξει η Sony??

ξερει κανεις? Εγω εχω Xbox διοτι ειναι ΠΟΛΥ ανωτερο απο το PS2.

Τωρα ομως το PS3 ειναι κατα πολυ ανωτερο του XboX360. οποτε ψηνομαι να το αγορασω...ομως το Xbox live δημιουργει καταπληκτικη ατμοσφαιρα και αυτος ειναι ενας λογος που θα με αναγκασει να αγορασω μαλλον το 360.

Αν η Sony ειχε κατι ανταξιο του XBOX LIVE τοτε θα αγοραζα το PS3 χωρις κανεναν ενδιασμο.

The BBC has confirmed to Eurogamer that the PS3 release date mentioned in a recent news report was in fact "speculation."

 

The report, which appeared on the BBC News website, caused a flurry of excitement because it included a statement that the Xbox 360 was launching "22 months before PlayStation 3."

 

Which would mean, of course, that the PS3 was out some time towards the end of 2007 - and not spring next year, as has previously been suggested by the likes of Ken Kutaragi himself.

 

But speaking to Eurogamer earlier today, the BBC journalist who authored the report said the 22 month figure was not the product of some "inside track" with Sony - it was "just speculation."

 

So there you have it - you should still get your shiny new Sony console next year after all. Depending on where you live, maybe...

Harrison on PS3 Online

 

As we suspected months ago in our interview with Epicʼs Mark Rein, it looks like Sony will in fact go with an open architecture for its online model. What does that mean, exactly? Basically, the way that the PlayStation 2ʼs online model operates will be applied to the PlayStation 3. While Harrison admitted that the Xbox Live online gaming service is one of the things that Microsoft has done well, he said that Sonyʼs plan is to let publishers establish their own means for getting consumers online and to let the publishers interact with consumers directly instead of using Sony as some kind of buffer for the online experience.

 

Unfortunately, by going with this model, Sony runs the risk of repeating its mistakes. The PS2 online model has proven to work with some sports games, a few shooters like SOCOM, and Final Fantasy XI, but outside of those, very few PS2 games have found success online. If Sony does a better job of promoting the online experience with the PlayStation 3 and at least attempts to have some sort of unifying structure, then this may not be the case.
