This Mainichi Shimbun article says, according to an industry source, as the mass production was delayed due to the delay of the standardization of the copy protection technology of BD, if PS3 is released in Spring they will be able to offer only 500k units that is far lower than 2.5 million the industry expected, so they decided to delay it.

Έλα ρε μεγάλε?!!! Και πως εξηγείς ότι ο G5 κοστίζει 100 euro και ο Duo Core 300? Αν δεν ξέρεις, παίξε κανένα next gen παιχνίδι στο 360. Ο G5 του 360 έχει 21 pipeline stages και ΔΕΝ έχει Velocity Engine. Άρα είναι ποιο αργός από τον διπλό G5 στα 2.5GHz. Απείρως πιο αργός από τον Cell.

Ο G5 του 360 έχει 21 pipeline stages και ΔΕΝ έχει Velocity Engine. Άρα είναι ποιο αργός από τον διπλό G5 στα 2.5GHz. Απείρως πιο αργός από τον Cell.

Θα καταλάβεις? Άλλωστε εσείς δεν έχετε σαν ατού την δύναμη αλλά την πρωτοτυπία και την επαναστατικότητα. Σκέφτεστε (λέμε τώρα) ότι ένα παιχνίδι είναι 99% gameplay και 1% όλα τα άλλα. Τι σε νοιάζει που ο G5 του 360 είναι ποιο αργός από τα νούμερα που ονειρεύτηκε ο Gates? Έχει σημασία αν κάθε 20 εντολές κάνει reset ολόκληρος ο επεξεργαστής και μετά πρέπει να περιμένεις 21 κύκλους ρολογιού για να ξανα δεις αποτέλεσμα? Μπαααα μωρέ... Εσύ έχεις επαναστατικό μοχλό και εκπληκτικά παιχνίδια στα ράφια των καταστημάτων (σιγά μην αγοράσει κανείς αυτές τις πατάτες) που σε περιμένουν. Στην Ιαπωνία μάλιστα όταν περνάς σε πωλήσεις τα 1500 κομμάτια γίνεται σεισμός. (1240 την τελευταία εβδομάδα. Ουφ!!! την γλύτωσαν οι Ιάπωνες αυτή την εβδομάδα!)

 

Θα σου πω όμως τι είναι ο G5 σου κάποια στιγμή. Σύντομα...

Sony has been anything but talkative these past few months regarding their plans for PlayStation 3. No one except Sony seemed to anticipate they'd continue to meet their projected spring release date in any territory, even Japan.

 

Today, Sony officially conceded defeat to the recent flurry of rumors and speculation, with Japanese newspaper Nihon Keizai Shimbun reporting the company has confirmed the machine has been pushed back until November.

 

There aren't many details out right now, but Sony says issues over the finalizatoin of copy protection technology related to their Blu-ray disc drive is the cause of the delay.

 

As the news is coming out of Japan, that creates a worrisome scenario for America and Europe. There was already rumblings Sony wouldn't be able to launch in all territories before the end of the year, but missing out on the Christmas season over here could prove a deadly blow to Sony's next-generation plans.

 

Somewhere in Microsoft's offices, Bill Gates just opened a bottle of champagne. With more details expected at tomorrow's PlayStation conference and the Game Developers Conference just around the corner, it appears the flood gates (for good or ill) are about to be unleashed.
