Καλημερες στο Φορουμ!

 

Μιας και οι web based mail accounts ειναι 2-3 ειπα να χρησιμοποιησω ενα email client προγραμμα για περισσοτερη ευκολία. Τι γινεται όμως με το hotmail?

Απο το incredimail πηρα αυτο το error: Access to Hotmail via Outlook and Outlook Express now requires a subscription. Please sign up at http://upgrade.msn.com

Μπορω με το Μοzilla ThunderBird να διαχειριστώ web based email accounts οπως hotmail.com?

Υπάρχει κάποιο άλλο client για hotmail ή να ξεχάσω την περιπτωση hotmail με το παραπανω error που πηρα?

After some years of using Foxmail for checking my accounts from hotmail, Lycos Free and Yahoo!, I found out, as many others, that my accounts stopped working with Foxmail/Foxmail hotmail Proxy. I read in the forum several remarks from people suffering with the same problem. I decided this weekend to find out whether there was a possibility to check out my accounts for free with Foxmail again and hurray! I found a way that works for me. It's not sure that it works for you, but it's worth trying...!

 

To get Foxmail working again for free! with several WEB-mail programs (hotmail, Lycos Free, Yahoo! and so on...):

 

Download and install freepops from http://freepops.sourceforge.net/'>http://freepops.sourceforge.net/

 

Settings

======

1. Select in Foxmail the mail account that doesn't work anymore, right click and select 'Properties'

2. Select 'Mail Server'

3. SMTP-server: the SMTP server from your own service provider (f.e. smtp.tiscali.nl)

4. POP3 Server = localhost (as with Foxmail-hotmail Proxy)

5. POP3 Account:= [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] (or another web mail account)

6. Password: = yourpassword

7. Auto start Foxmail-hotmail Proxy = not ticked, FreePOPs needs to be started instead.

8. [Advanced...] button: POP3 Server Port: 2000

remark: you can set FreePOPs to use a different server port. Change '2000' in that case to the one you changed it to. Port 2000 is the basic port when installed basic.

 

To send mail, either use the settings from your Internet provider's SMTP-server (best option) or use the 'Express Mail' function from Foxmail to send a message to one person at a time (you have to set the DNS options).

 

I found out that Foxmail now reads my hotmail, Lycos and Yahoo! accounts again for free after I installed FreePOPs. When the account can't be read anymore, it's possible that the login page from that account changed so that FreePOPs doesn't work for that account anymore. In that case, check for an update of the LUA-file or freePOPs program on the http://freepops.sourceforge.net/ page.

 

It also should work for you to use the 'Remote Mailbox Manager' so that you can see what mail is waiting for you on the server and if you don't want it, delete it from the server. For me, it works great.

 

FreePOPs offers a forum and a lot of information on how to use that program. Even the settings for Foxmail are published on the website (See DOCS --> Tutorial)! There is an enormous list of supported WEB-mail services. If you want, you could also add GMAIL to work via FreePOPs but hey, you use that great FREE POP3 service from GMAIL, don't you??

 

I don't know whether it's possible to use a 'portable' version of Foxmail and FreePOPs, on a USB-stick for example, in the way many people use Foxmail on another computer.

 

I hope I made many people happy by finding out how to get Foxmail working again with popular web mail accounts - for free -. On my home computer, I'm having as much fun with Foxmail 5 again as ever before!

trustfm δε το δοκίμασα τελικά. δε θέλω να μπω στον κοπο για account της microsoft.. τα πηρα αγρια σημερα. να παει να γ@#%#^.. Αν υπάρχει λύση για το thunderbird τοτε ίσως το σκεφτομουν να δωσω λίγο ακόμα παράταση στο hotmail. Aν και τώρα που δοκίμασα το gmail δε το βλέπω!

Wiseman το χρησιμοποιουσα το hotmail popper αλλα με τις αλλαγες που έκανε η microsoft τωρα στο site υπάρχει αυτο:

ρε παιδιά μόλις συγχρονίστηκε το foxmail με το hotmail κάι έκανα και έσβησα όλα τα mail μου απο το hotmail. Τα έχω όμως στο foxmail. Πως μπορώ να τα βάλω πίσω πάλι στο inbox του hotmail?
