Europe Online is bankrupt
Source: Infosat http://www.infosat.de/index.asp?command=news&id=6359

As this news is in german, i'll post an english translation here:

"Europe Online Networks (EON) declared today that they have placed a bankrupty petition with the Luxembourg court. So EON is another Internet-via-Sat provider who failed. EON used transponders on the ASTRA Sattelite-Network. EON changed its strategy almost every day during the last year, so no new customers could be aquired (Rem: Heh? There are MANY new customers). Inofficial statements say that EON already "wasted" 50 million euro. EON's financees now obviously didn't believe in its success any longer and rejected further investments"
kati de mou paei kala re paides!!!

Dear Mr ,

Thank you for your interest in Europe Online.

Europe Online is not in the business of fast Unicast over satellite. Surfing the web via our proxies is a legacy product that we do not promote any longer. We have found it to be unprofitable.

Extensive research on DSL performance of competitors offering High Speed Internet via satellite has been carried out and we have learned that they can only support a small fraction of the possible bandwidth once it has been fully deployed. It is difficult and not possible for us to provide high bandwidth for unicast applications at low

fixed rates.

Europe Online provides an enhanced multimedia experience combining the vast

content and interactivity of the Internet with the rich media of Television.

Our service is designed to be broadcasted to the whole of our customer base

via IP Multicast.

Thank you for your understanding.

Best Regards,

Customer Support
