Στο τέλος της έφτασε η πολύχρονη δικαστική διαμάχη, που ξεκίνησε το 2006, ανάμεσα σε κινηματογραφικά studios του Hollywood και τον ιδιοκτήτη του γνωστού torrent site isohunt, Gary Fung.

Η υπόθεση έκλεισε με συμβιβασμό ανάμεσα στις 2 πλευρές στον οποίο, εκτός των άλλων, προβλέπεται το κλείσιμου του δημοφιλούς site, καθώς και χρηματική αποζημίωση, από μεριάς του ιδιοκτήτη Gary Fung, ύψους 110 εκ. δολλαρίων.

 

Δηλώσεις σχετικά με την απόφαση έκανε ο CEO της MPAA, Chris Dodd, λέγοντας:

“Today’s settlement is a major step forward in realizing the enormous potential of the Internet as a platform for legitimate commerce and innovation. It also sends a strong message that those who build businesses around encouraging, enabling, and helping others to commit copyright infringement are themselves infringers, and will be held accountable for their illegal actions.”
